Bucking the Trend of “Info-tainment”

Reading a great interview with a movie star, musician, or designer can help you gain perspective on the creative process, educate you about the industry, allow you a peek into the mind of someone you respect, and hopefully, entertain. Unfortunately, there are not very many great interviews out there, even with the incredible number of entertainment, fashion, and music publications that are available. There are a few magazines, like Cliché Magazine, that are actively trying to buck the current trend of “info-tainment,” and are, instead, interested in getting to the heart of what makes an artist tick.

The rise of social media has made it possible for artists from all walks of life to share their work with the world. It is these artists, who are functioning outside of the mainstream, that are creating the most cutting edge work. In-depth interviews with lesser-known artists that are on the rise, can introduce the artists and their fresh perspectives to a new audience, as well as inspire other up-and-coming artists to keep creating. At the end of the day, laying the foundation for further inspiration and creativity should be the goal of every arts-related publication.
