My Favorite Blowouts Ever

If you know anything about me, you know I am a blowout addict. My family, friends, and roommates are always on me about my blowout addiction (hello, credit card bill!). “You don’t need them,” they say. And while I agree, mostly because blowouts are pricey and do seem a bit superfluous, I can’t help but love the way I feel after a nice blow dry. For starters, my hair is thick and long, making it very difficult—not to mention time consuming—to blow dry and curl my own hair. And luckily for me, my hair is pretty dry, so I can usually make a blowout last for 3-4 days (I know, kind of gross—but totally worth it when you’re spending the money). Let’s just say I’m a big proponent of dry shampoo. Anyway, it’s no surprise that my love affair with blowouts has brought me to many salons, both big and small, to find the best blowout ever. And while a blowout might seem like a standard procedure, salons across the country are getting creative. So here it is, blow by blow: my favorite blowouts ever.

Blo 2

The Big-Name Blowout
I recently got to check out Blo Blow Dry Bar, thanks to the lovely ladies over at the Chelsea NYC location. I was sold from the start; they offered me a glass of champagne before I could even get my jacket off. What did I love even more about the salon? The Blo Menu offers a variety of different styles, from red-carpet volume to sexy beach waves and even fishtail braids. The best part of all? Each style is $40 flat, regardless of the length or thickness of your hair. They definitely take their time at Blo, which is appreciated when you’re spending that kind of cash. I was impressed with their attention to detail, and all of the products they use (Blo brand) have a to-die-for fragrance (even the hairspray!). Overall, Blo offers an upscale, spa-like experience that is sure to please even the most seasoned salonites.

Blo 1

Your Local Dry Bar
While I loved the glamorous, big-name experience of a place like Blo, I also have to send some love to my local blow dry bars. These days, it seems like blow bars are opening up everywhere, even in smaller cities. These no-cut, no-color salons are perfect if you need a blowout last minute, but don’t feel like trekking into the big city for glamorous tresses. My personal favorite is Up and Out in Hoboken, New Jersey (my city). These ladies opened up shop a few months ago and have been a hit ever since. The salon is sleek and upscale, but still comfy and welcoming (tea or a mimosa, anyone?), and you definitely feel at home right away. Like Blo, they do a flat rate for a few dollars cheaper ($38), and they’ve recently added some other styles to their menu (e.g. the fishtail). The experience is a bit more expedited than that of bigger-name salons like Blo, but the results are still fabulous, especially if you are looking for that classic, voluminous “blown-out” look in a short amount of time. And if they were able to give my incredibly thick hair some volume (I couldn’t believe it either!), I’m pretty sure they can do wonders for everyone else too.
up and out
Your Go-To Salon
How did we survive before all of these blowout bars started popping up? Our go-to salons, of course! We can’t forget about the people that started it all, and I have to say, some of the best blowouts I’ve ever gotten are paired with a great cut at my hometown salon, Caru. They offer a similar spa-like experience with custom beverages and salon add-ons that are sure to pamper you like you’ve never been pampered before. What I like most about my favorite full-service salon is that blowouts are included in your cut, and they offer a similar menu to that of Blo. My favorite do? I love, love, love the beach wave blowout. I’m not sure how they do it, but I always come out with sexy, sultry tresses that last for days. The prices at this full-service salon, like many others, vary depending on your length and thickness of hair, as well as who is cutting/styling your hair that day, so be sure to find a stylist you like (and can afford), and stick with them for good to avoid any surprises, both style- and price-wise.
up and out 2
The Verdict?
I hate to be that girl, but I just can’t choose one. Each salon has its strengths, and they’re all great for different experiences and occasions. If I’m looking to go all-out (pre-city wedding/event pampering), I’ll probably head to Blo, but you can’t beat the convenience and service of a local salon like Up and Out (perfect before a big date night). And if I’m in need of a haircut, too, I’m for sure heading to my favorite full-service salon, Caru. The choices are endless… if only my finances were as well! One of these days I’ll learn to blowout my own hair in less than two hours, but in the meantime, I have no problem doing the research for you guys! Stay fabulous, always. XOXO, Elizabeth

Melanie Mills Interview

Her last name might be Mills, but Melanie is no run-of-the-mill makeup artist. In fact, this Emmy-award winning celebrity makeup and skincare expert has a rather impressive résumé, including stints on hit TV shows, films, and fashion shows. Still not impressed? How about working as the head of makeup for Dancing with the Stars for years? During her time at DWTS, Mills perfected GLEAM, a velvety and radiant face and body cream that gives ladies of all skin tones an enviable summer glow. GLEAM now features a full line of high-pigmented long-lasting lip glosses as well as a stunningly radiant body dust. We got the chance to catch up with her for our Melanie Mills Interview, and she shared some of her all-time favorite makeup looks and tips from behind the scenes, including some of her new products from the fabulous GLEAM line.

melanie 2

Cliché: What makes the GLEAM line of beauty products so effective for both celebrity clients and your everyday makeup lovers?
Melanie Mills: For the pros and celebrities, it’s how gorgeous, airbrushed, and flawless the skin looks on camera. For the everyday makeup lovers, it’s how easy it is to use. A makeup and moisturizer all in one, it glides on and hydrates the skin, yet doesn’t get all over the place. All in all, every shade works on all skin tones with many different end results. Go for a simple glow with a natural kiss of color or instantly bronzed, luscious skin.
After working in this business for years, what are some classic makeup looks that you think have transcended time? What makes these looks so timeless?
Obviously the classic pinup look: flawless skin, full arched eyebrows, wing tip eyeliner, false eyelashes, and a beautiful red pout. Timeless! From pinup to rockabilly, this look is ultra sexy and glamorous. I also love the bronzy dewy skin, smoky eye, and a nude glossy lip look. Even though it’s a more modern look, it will definitely be a timeless classic. Both of these looks are especially flattering.
You’ve worked with a slew of celebrities and at tons of high-profile events. Which celebs/events are the most fun to do makeup for and why?
I love live television—the energy, the live audience, and the celebrities always made work so much fun. Even more so, I love intimate photoshoots where we get to transform someone and create art. Celebs that are fun but down to earth are great to work with, especially when they are  confident in their own skin.
Top 3 Behind-the-Scenes Makeup Tricks
1) Primer: Helps keep shine down, smooths out the skin, and helps the foundation last.
2) Epicurean Eye Makeup Remover (with a latex sponge): Can take anything off quickly, including glitter, and then you can build makeup right back on top.
3) The Beauty Blender: The best tool to smooth out foundation and concealer for a flawless finish.
Tips for Extending Your Summer Glow into the Fall Season
1) Hydrate inside and out!
2) Gleam: The best body makeup moisturizer and glow all in one. It adds a kiss of color or bronze anytime, anywhere.
3) Gleam Radiant Dust Bronzer: Dust anywhere desired on the face or body. It’s a beautiful loose powder that glides on. Use bronze gold or deep gold for that stunning summer glow.

Summer Skin Damage Control

There’s no denying the magic of those long (or too short) summer months—rising temperatures, sun-kissed skin, and relaxing beachside on well-deserved vacations. But while the summer season is a favorite for many, your skin is not a huge fan. And while the sun may seem to do wonders for your complexion, the harsh rays can actually wreak havoc on your skin. By fall, our dry, damaged skin is left screaming for help. Read on to find out how you can turn summer skin damage control into some serious TLC for your skin.

Banish Dead Skin Cells
It’s common knowledge that the sun dries out your skin. By the time summer comes to an end, our bodies are covered in dry, dead skin cells. Not only is scaly skin not an attractive look, it’s not good for you either. Dead skin cells can clog pores, causing inflammation and acne, which makes for an even less appealing look. Fortunately, we can solve this problem very easily with a good exfoliator. My recent favorite? I’m loving DIRTY WORKS Glow Girl Buttery Salt Scrub ($14). This scrub gets the job done with invigorating sea salt and smooth soybean oil. Get ready to say goodbye to dull, dry skin for good!

Even It Out with Anti-Aging
Repeat after me: It is never too early to anti-age. I can’t reiterate this enough, especially after the long summer months. Everyone, no matter what age, can benefit from anti-aging products. While we love rising temps, the summer sun can kickstart discoloration and even wrinkles, starting as early as your late teens and twenties. But there’s no need to panic. There are tons of affordable products on the market that can protect your skin pre- and post-sun, including one of my favorites, OLAY Total Effects 7 in One CC Tone Correcting Moisturizer ($18.79). This all-encompassing—not to mention lightweight—product features color and correction to fix fine lines and imperfections (including discoloration), as well as SPF to protect you from the sun’s harmfulrays.
Extend Your Glow
While I’m not a proponent of tanning beds, I am a big fan of keeping that summer glow well into the autumn months. My alternative? I’ve been using JERGENS Natural Glow ($8.79) for years, and this product has only gotten better with time when it comes to extending your sun-kissed look. They’ve improved their formula immensely over the years to ensure a more even, natural looking color as well as a much more pleasant fragrance to go along with it.
Check In and Check Up
If you don’t already check in with your dermatologist on a yearly basis, now is a great time to start. Scheduling a full-body examination is a huge step in keeping tabs on the general health of your skin and preventing the growth of cancerous cells. Even if you don’t see any suspicious moles or growths, it’s a good idea to schedule an appointment anyway and have your doctor take a look. They can see things that we can’t, and they can give you more great tips for how to keep your skin safe throughout the entire year.

Your Smoothest Summer Skin

For me, the journey to smooth skin—especially in the summer—has not always been smooth sailing. Sure, the summer season is great: rising temps, beach days, short shorts—okay, stop there. Baring my pale, flaky skin (thanks, polar vortex) is about the only thing I wasn’t looking forward to this summer. Add on my new-found spots of cellulite, and I’m ready to wear my favorite jeans in 95-degree weather. That is until I found a few of my favorite new skin products. Below are three products I’ve recently fallen in love with that also happen to work wonders when it comes to smooth summer skin. Am I a cellulite-free, golden goddess? No. But do I feel a whole lot better rocking my favorite Coachella-esque lacy shorts? You bet I do. Follow suit and you’ll feel a lot more confident in your smoothest summer skin yet, all season long.

DIRTY WORKS Glow Girl Buttery Salt Scrub
This one speaks for itself. I recently discovered this gem while browsing the beauty aisles of my local Marshalls (amazing find, I know). I like to use this exfoliator in the shower twice weekly, as it does wonders scrubbing away any dead skin, leaving my whole body silky smooth. This scrub normally retails for $14 at I snagged it for only $5.99, and boy am I glad I did.
Glow Girl
BLISS Fat Girl Soap Massage Bar
Hate the name, but absolutely love this product. It was another lucky find at Marshalls, and I’ve been using it religiously ever since. It features stimulating massage nubs along with skin-invigorating caffeine, peppermint, grapefruit extract, and jojoba beads that slough away dead skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite (short-term). The massage bar normally retails for $19 at Sephora, but I was able to grab it for a meager $9.99.
JERGENS Natural Glow Moisturizer + Firming
What do I love most about this product? It packs a one-two punch, tackling the appearance of cellulite while also giving me the golden glow I crave during the summer months, minus the harsh rays of the sun. The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to protect my skin from sun damage. Jergens Natural Glow ($8.79 at Target) allows me to maintain natural-looking color while keeping my skin healthy and youthful.

Gwyneth Paltrow Collaborates with Blo Blow Dry Bar

Blo 2

Just when you thought Gwyneth Paltrow was already doing it all, she’s doing more. We’re super psyched to announce that she’s teaming up with—consciously, we might add—celebrity hairstylist David Babaii and Blo Blow Dry Bar for a fabulous partnership in the name of beautiful hair everywhere. With Gwyneth and David’s creative input, the world-famous Blo Blow Dry Bar, North America’s original blow dry bar, is ready to take their products and customer service experience to the next level. Blo, known for their no-cuts, no-color services (fabulous blowouts only), will be amping up their usual blow-dry experience with the help of both Gwyneth’s brand development and David’s vast experience with the stars and unique techniques in the salon.

Blo 1

We had the pleasure of being pampered at the Blo Chelsea location in NYC, where we enjoyed flipping through the blowout menu (super fun) while sipping on a cool champagne cocktail (the perfect touch). We ended up selecting the classic blowout style (think subtle red-carpet volume with to-die-for smoothness), but we can’t wait to go back and try the Pillow Talk style (sultry and tousled to the max), along with a slew of other Blo menu choices. Check out their website to browse the menu and find the Blo location nearest to you so you can book your blowout today! We promise, this is fabulousness you have to see to believe!

Summer Beauty Survival Kit

Every month when I sit down to write this column, I think of reasons why that specific time of year is so amazing for beauty junkies. From finding red-hot lipstick shades for holiday parties, to picking out pastel nail polish shades for spring, there really is something I look forward to with each passing season of the year, especially when it comes to beauty products. But there’s something special to be said about summer. Maybe it’s the touch of sun-kissed skin, the natural highlights in my hair after a few days on the beach, or the fact that I can get away with Barbie pink lipstick for three months out of the year. In the spirit of my (maybe) favorite season, I’ve compiled a list of my go-to summer essentials—a Summer Beauty Survival Kit, if you will. In the meantime, enjoy the sun, wherever you may be. Stay fabulous, always. XO, Elizabeth

Ocean PotionOcean Potion Sunscreen
Need a sunscreen that goes above and beyond and smells amazing? Ocean Potion Sunscreen (Walmart, $6.67)  has been my absolute favorite sunscreen for years. Their flawless formula includes sea plant botanicals, antioxidants, and tons of Vitamin D3 to keep your skin looking youthful and rejuvenated as you soak up the summer rays. Ocean Potion also features a non-greasy formula and Vitamin E to fight off free radicals, making it the perfect addition to your beach bag essentials.
Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft CurlsPillow soft curls
I used to hate what the summer humidity did to my already frizzy hair, until I found Miss Jessie’s Pillow Sof
t Curls (Target, $22). This styling lotion promises frizz-free, soft and bouncy waves, without the crunchy curls we all try to avoid during the summer months. I love the soft hold of Miss Jessie’s and the fact that it works wonders both ways: air dry or with a diffuser.
Stila eyeliner
STILA Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
There’s nothing better than waterproof mascara, except for waterproof liquid eyeliner. I recently started using it this past spring when my watery, allergy-ridden eyes were messing up my eyeliner on a daily basis. STILA’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner (Sephora, $20) features a thin, marker-like tip that creates a smooth, smudge-free look with quick precision. The best part? The liner comes in fifteen different shades, including playful summer colors like Paradise Pink, Cobalt, Light Turquoise, and Periwinkle Blue.
VINYLUX is the next big thing in manicures, featuring week-long wear (really!), self-adhering color, and only two steps for faster service. Think of it as somewhere in between a regular mani and gel. It’s lighter and more convenient than gel but boasts more staying power than your run-of-the-mill mani. It’s perfect for people like me who like to change their polish color often, but need the durability of a gel manicure. Check out their website at and find a CND salon near you!

The Blonde Vegan Interview

There’s something special about Jordan Younger, a.k.a. The Blonde Vegan. Is it her bubbly, warm personality? Her relaxed, straight-off-the-Cali-beach mentality? Or maybe it’s her enviable, bi-coastal lifestyle. Okay, so it’s probably all that and more. But what we love most about Younger is her super approachable vibe and surprisingly accessible vegan blog. Unlike other health junkies on the web, Younger passes no judgement, and instead invites her followers to make food and health-related choices that are best for them and the lifestyle they want to live. From delectable recipes to restaurant reviews and updates on her yoga journey, The Blonde Vegan is the perfect hotspot for anyone interested in living a healthier lifestyle, whether you’re ready to make the vegan commitment or just want to dabble in healthy eating. We got the chance to sit down with Younger and talk about her blog, her health-driven lifestyle, and all things vegan. Thanks to her, we’ve realized that the vegan lifestyle is not so scary and can be totally delicious! We have a feeling you’ll think so, too.

Blonde Vegan 1

Cliché: How has your life changed since you decided to go vegan?
Jordan Younger: My life has changed in so many positive ways since my decision to go vegan. The greatest change took place within me because, for the first time in my life, I am feeding myself with foods that do not bother my extremely sensitive stomach. I have lost weight and gained a ton of energy, but most importantly the stomach problems and migraines I had suffered from my entire life have disappeared. I am happier and more confident, and I have significantly less stress in my day-to-day life. It’s crazy how much food can stress you out if you aren’t eating the right foods for your body. I have also been given the wonderful gift of helping others transform their lifestyle through my blog, which has given me a new sense of purpose with veganism. Connecting with like-minded individuals and helping others find the healthiest version of themselves has become a huge part of my life, and without veganism, I wouldn’t have found any of that.
What role does exercise play in your vegan lifestyle?
Exercise plays a vital role in my vegan lifestyle. Without exercise, a healthy diet cannot fully do its job, just like without a healthy diet, exercise cannot really do its job. My fitness philosophy is similar to my food philosophy: find what works with your body, and then be consistent with it. I practice yoga every day because I am in love with the exercise, the yogic philosophy, and the way that it makes me feel. I also run anywhere from 3-5 days a week, I swim and bike in the summertime, and I am a pretty huge Soul Cycle fan. When you eat well, there is no excuse not to be active, and you will probably find that you end up falling in love with it! The two go hand in hand.
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to your vegan diet, and how do you deal with it on a daily basis?
The biggest challenge would have to be the social aspect. It’s hard to strike a balance between being that token vegan friend who can’t eat anything when you’re out and totally going with the flow and not mentioning your dietary restrictions. Because of the difficult nature of eating out on a plant-based vegan diet, I’ve had to make sure I am surrounded by very supportive people. Certain people get annoyed when you make a huge lifestyle change that doesn’t align with the way they live their life, and if it becomes an issue, I’ve had to learn to let some people go. Once you adopt veganism as a lifestyle and you get used to the changes that come along with it, the people in your life get used to it as well. Things that were challenging in the beginning are much easier now. Oh, and I’ve learned to plan ahead! I always bring snacks with me, especially if I know I am going to be in a situation where there is not going to be a whole lot for me to eat.

What made you decide to blog about the lifestyle you’re choosing to live?
I started an Instagram account to share my food photos when I first got really into vegan cooking. There was such an outpouring of support on Instagram, and my following grew pretty quickly. At a certain point it became apparent to me that I needed an outlet to share the recipes and to share tips and tricks that I had learned along the way by living a vegan lifestyle. That’s where the blog stemmed from, but it has evolved into so much more. Now I share quite a bit of my personal life on the blog, restaurant reviews, yoga details, Q&A’s with industry professionals, and my struggles with stomach problems. You name it—it’s on there. The blog has become such an incredible personal space for me. Not to mention, I love to write, so it ended up being a very natural fit!

For many people, food is the centerpiece of their social life. How do you manage to keep your cool and maintain your vegan lifestyle without compromising your social life?
It can definitely be a challenge. I’ve had to learn (through major trial and error) that going out to eat with friends is so much more about the company than about the food itself. It can kind of suck to be that girl who shows up and only orders water or a side salad with no dressing, but you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do and there’s no sense in paying for a meal that you’re not going to be able to enjoy. I have learned to plan ahead and eat beforehand if I know there isn’t going to be anything for me at a restaurant. But I have made it a big point to never allow my veganism to deter me from doing things with my friends. I go to all the same places with them that I would have gone before; I just steer clear of the food aspect!
And I’ve also found that people are inclined to follow by example, so a lot of my friends have developed the “healthy bug” after watching my lifestyle transformation. That has been fun for me because I get to take them to healthy restaurants and try fun vegan or vegetarian spots with them. We like to do a trade off. If we go out to a nice “regular” restaurant one night, the next time they will try a healthier place with me. It’s all about finding a balance.
Blonde Vegan 3
How is your blog different from the slew of other foodie/health blogs, and what do you hope to do by journaling your experiences online?
My blog is different in a few ways. First, I make it a huge priority to respond to each and every one of the comments and emails I receive. When people first realize that I do this, they are pretty blown away. I receive several hundred emails per day and usually even more comments. I think that the purpose of a blog is all about the interaction and the communicative aspects. I have never wanted to be closed off to my blog readers, and I always want them to know that I am available to answer their questions and help them reach their goals. I think that has something to do with the fact that my blog stemmed from my Instagram, which is such a personal space. I want my readers to feel like we are in conversation. Anything goes! Another way in which my blog is different is that it goes beyond the recipe creation. I discuss everything from my stomach issues and disordered eating struggles to posting interviews with my favorite authors and health bloggers. I try to make the vibe as community-oriented as possible. By journaling my experiences online, I hope to continue connecting with like-minded individuals and growing my brand. Eventually I would love to expand to the point where the blog will be my full-time job. I just launched my t-shirt line, I am in the process of creating an app, and ultimately I want to write a book. The blog is the home base for all of those projects and goals.
What are your top three favorite super-foods?
Cacao (total chocoholic over here), maca powder (energy boost!), and coconut shreds. I’m obsessed with all three.
Any advice for aspiring bloggers?
Blog about what you love, and you can’t go wrong. If you are madly passionate and excited about your topic, that will shine through in your writing and your readers will love it. Invest in a good camera, because photos are worth a million words on the internet. You can link the photos to Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram and start driving traffic to your blog from those different outlets. And reach out to other people in the blogging community who are writing about similar things! Collaborations are huge. The blog community is an incredibly supportive one. Don’t hesitate to ask others for advice. Finally, be consistent. The more often you post, the better!

Spring Awakenings

Ahhhhhh. The sweet sounds and smells of spring: birds chirping, the buzz of lawnmowers, the
smell of freshly cut grass, and the fragrance of blooming flowers. It’s as if the world is suddenly
reborn, as we eagerly emerge from our seasonal hibernation. This past winter, at least for us
New Yorkers, has been a long and painful one. We have The Polar Vortex to thanks for the
harshest winter in years, with record low temps and towering snow drifts that still line the streets
days after the official arrival of spring. Not to mention the frigid weather has really done wonders
for my already dry, flaky skin. Sarcasm and complaints aside, I’m looking ahead and looking
forward to spring. It’s my absolute favorite time for amping up my beauty regime. Kickstarting
your beauty rebirth is a great way to banish your remaining winter blues for good. Below are my
favorite beauty-inspired, spring awakenings that are sure to please and get you ready for the
welcomed change in seasons. Warmer, sunnier days are on the way, I promise! Stay fabulous
always. XOXO, Elizabeth
A Fresh Floral Scent
Nothing says spring like a fresh flowery scent. My choice for this season? Kate Spade’s Live
Colorfully Eau de Parfum ($75-95, Nordstrom). It’s everything a spring scent should be: bright
and floral with hints of sparkly mandarin and pink water lily, not to mention a touch of golden
gardenia and Tahitian vanilla.
Pastel Nails
Don’t get me wrong, I love rocking dark hues on my nails all winter long, but there’s something
so exciting about having the excuse to play with lighter, pastel shades once spring has arrived.
This year, think subtle, Easter Egg-inspired mani/pedis. As usual, my go-to is Essie, with their
Spring 2014 collection featuring shades like Fashion Playground (think pastel pistachio) and
Romper Room (a pale tea rose). At $8.50 each, these hues are sure to please all season long.
Playful Pink Lips
Goodbye holiday reds, and hello pouty pink! Spring is the season to sport kissably soft, perfectly
pink lips. My color of choice this spring? It’s no other than the Rose Lily sheer pastel pink lipstick
($15) from MAC Cosmetics’ A Fantasy of Flower’s Collection. If pastel pink doesn’t suit you,
there are a bunch of playful colors to choose from in this collection, including berry, coral, and
peach shades that are sure to do the trick.
A Royal Flush
So you might not be getting any sun just yet, but there’s nothing wrong with a hint of bronze
blush to jumpstart your spring awakening. We are forever obsessed with the Two-Faced Pink
Leopard Blushing Bronzer ($30, Sephora). Besides the too-cute packaging and leopard palette,
we love the combination of gold bronzer and rose blush shades. Who doesn’t love a shimmering,
healthy flush all over?

Jus D’Amour Perfume Oil

There are perfumes and then there’s Jus D’Amour Perfume Oil. This beautiful, soothing, not to mention intoxicating “love song in a bottle,” is our newest obsession in the fragrance world. Jus D’Amour has also caught the attention of some of our favorite celebs, including Anna Gunn, Sharon Stone, Ali Fedotowsky, Vanessa Williams, and actress Jennie Garth.

“My Jus D’Amour, or ‘love juice,’ perfume is a dude magnet.” said Garth. “Men go crazy for the earthy, cedar smell, so I make sure I’m ready to attract attention whenever I wear it!”

Jus D’Amour by Parfums Mercedes features a mature, memorizing scent with notes of sweet coco palm, night blooming jasmine, rich Tahitian Vanilla, and mysterious green aqua leaf, leaving a captivatingly smooth scent behind. Jus D’Amour was originally created by singer, songwriter, and performer Mercedes Ganon (her album is now available at, who developed this particular scent as a part of her own private fragrance collection. At the urging of friends and family who were already crazy about the scent themselves, Ganon decided to bottle and sell the sensuous mixture to the masses. Not surprisingly, this powerfully seductive scent has already garnered a very loyal following. Want to try it out for yourself? Jus D’Amour is now available for purchase at select retailers, including Lucky Scent, Scent Bar, Lavender Blue, R+D Hipster Emporium, Opensky, and on its website

It only takes two minutes or less to select and send a gift to that special someone. After being notified, giftees can pick up their Yiftee at whichever local store or business the gifter has selected. Need to send a friend or family member a birthday gift but don’t have time to run out to the mall? No problem! Yiftee does all the work for you by sending gifts directly to the recipient’s smartphone or tablet. Your friends and family will love the unexpected surprise of a real gift waiting in their inbox and the convenience of stopping by their favorite neighborhood shop, boutique, or salon and spa for a thoughtful birthday gift of their choice. Yiftees are great for all special occasions and can be big or small ($5-$200) based on the occasion and your budget. What more could you want? We loved trying out the Yiftee gifting service and had fun stopping by our local GAP store to shop for a little weekend pick-me-up. Try Yiftee gifting now!

Real Women Beauty Awards

SheKnows, an award-winning media platform and top lifestyle site, has announced a call for submissions for their Real Women Beauty Awards. Users can log on now until March 31st and submit their favorite beauty products in a number of categories, including lips, skincare, and make-up. After submissions have closed, the SheKnows editorial team will identify what real women see as the best products on the beauty market today.

“The idea of beauty is changing,” said Lauren Swanson, Director of Editorial. “Women are embracing positive self-image and turning to each other to define what works and doesn’t work. The Real Woman Beauty Awards is about finding those gems that the average woman swears by and sharing them with our readers.” The best part? When users share their favorite beauty products of all time, they are automatically entered for a chance to win $500 worth of beauty products picked by REAL women who know what works.

You can submit your picks for top beauty products here! Again, submissions are live only until March 31st, and the awards will culminate on April 23rd at the SheKnows Spring Fling event in New York City where all winners will be announced. Good luck to everyone!
