Indie Pop Band Humble Braggers Release New Track “So Alive” Ahead of Sophomore Album

by

In a preview of what’s to come for Buffalo-based group Humble Braggers, the band has released their newest feel-good single, “So Alive” on all streaming platforms. With an infusion of retro synth-pop and brash guitar-work, the track is a testament to the feeling of pride and joy that comes across when you’re able to overcome your fears. For lead member Tom Burtless, the surge of serotonin is what encompasses the spirit of So Alive:

“So I hate flying. I absolutely hate it. Like, ‘I wonder if there’s a way I can fake being sick and not have to get on this plane’ level of hating it. But once the plane is in the air, those feelings tend to subside a bit. I can start to breathe a bit more normally, I can calm down and I can maybe―maybe―even enjoy it a little bit. It can be applied to a litany of things but the gist is the song is about the confidence and pride you take in facing the things you fear.” – Tom Burtless of Humble Braggers

The band previously announced their upcoming LP, Love & Fear, slated for release on November 11, 2021 featuring singles “Anymore,” “I’ll Keep Running,” and “Only.”

Buffalo, New York-bred Humble Braggers is a quickly rising four-piece band that is poised to take the scene by storm. With an electrifying and euphoric sound, Humble Braggers will guide you through any emotion. With greater-than-life arrangements and infectious energy, the talented band will take any listener on an eclectic sonic journey. Humble Braggers paint a blank canvas with their music that encapsulates each member’s musical influences, usually ranging from electronic to pop to indie. Dancing through the sadness, Humble Braggers delivers lyrical messages that are rooted in experiences that many will be able to relate to and find comfort in. Wave System Release Euphoric New Track “How Do You Feel”

by

LA-based experimental indie band Wave System have released their newest track, “How Do You Feel” on all DSPs today. The newly released single features a darker appeal, with blaring production and haunting vocals, but fans of their previous single, “Something Real,” are sure to still resonate with the cinematic balance of the new track. The band describes “How Do You Feel” as one that came together naturally and easy:

“’How Do You Feel’ is one of those that seemingly fell out of the sky and wrote itself. It’s rare it happens, but when it does it can end up sounding like something we’ve never done before and you just get on board. That’s what you hear with the bounce, valleys, and peaks on this one. We hope you enjoy!” – Wave System

Wave System is the project of composer/producers Phil Danyew and Taylor Johnson, whose music spans from intimate piano ballads to epic cinematic post rock. After years of touring and writing with Frank Ocean, Foster the People, and Lorde, the duo started composing songs together that blend sweeping orchestral arrangements with modern synthesis that take the listener from the depths of introspection to the peaks of explosive joy.

Indie Pop Duo Wild Story Release Debut EP “Into The Wild”

by

Indie pop duo Wild Story have released their debut EP, Into The Wild on all streaming services today. With cinematic vocals and grand production, songs like “It’s Happening” and “Moment” transport fans to a feeling of serenity in a coming-of-age story. In the EP’s songwriting, tracks like “Time To Let Go” and “Little Dreamerresonate with Wild Story’s inner-transformations and new-found confidence. The four-track EP, in all, is a meticulously crafted body of work that breaks genre-molds in the indie-dream-pop space, and bookmarks itself as the foundation of all things Wild Story: freedom of expression.

“‘Into The Wildrepresents so many things for us, but most importantly it represents us taking a chance on ourselves and our music; setting free our doubts and fears and just unleashing our music out Into The Wild. We’ve been so deliberate about how we release songs and how we tell our stories, because we both put so much of ourselves into our music.” — Wild Story

Into The Wild is set up for listeners to follow Wild Story along their journey and give people a chance to hear their story in how they’ve evolved over time.

“The EP itself is laid out in the order these songs were written because we wanted to bring our listeners not only into the backstory of us as a band, but also to show how we evolved even over the course of four songs. From the honest and real versions of ourselves that we share on our social media, we always want to show the most honest and real versions of ourselves with our music as well. We really hope that with this EP comes a greater understanding of who we are as creatives, but also who we are as Wild Story.” — Wild Story

Wild Story is a duo originating from Los Angeles, California. This anthemic band combines Viv Parker’s cinematic, immersive production with the adventurous, dynamic and vulnerable melodies of Katie Hargrove. From their first writing session together, Katie and Viv knew they had something special. Building on their solo careers, the pair decided to plunge headfirst into the LA music scene together with Lyric House’s support along the way. Staying true to themselves and each other, they have found success creating music that reverberates with fans and listeners alike. In their own words, Wild Story is about embracing who you are, creating your own narrative and owning it wholeheartedly.

Pop Artist Viana Releases Retro Visual to Money-Hungry Track “About the Money”

by

In a time of uncertainty for musicians everywhere, pop artist Viana chose to dive straight into her work in the midst of the pandemic. Her latest single, “About the Money,” is available to stream across DSPs today, with a celebratory music video available to watch on Viana’s official YouTube channel.

Despite being recorded and written in the dead and isolating New England winter, “About the Money,” sonically, is a vacation getaway, with an underlayer of rich retro soul production. The music video, directed by Chris Cole, perfectly encapsulates the aura of “About the Money,” and the desire to stay afloat in a money-hungry world.

Viana centered the track around what it felt like to be a working musician during a time where there seemed to be no hope for live music.

I wrote this during the pandemic when it seemed like there was really no hope in sight for working musicians. I was living with my producer at the time and was just worrying about being able to survive financially. I don’t even care about money or material things, I just wanted to not have to worry and to be able to do what I love. But as the song says, someone has to get paid. I wanted the song to feel like I was driving down the Southern Cali coast line in a classic car, even though I’m singing about being broke and how messy things were feeling. We wrote and recorded ‘About the Money’ at my house in the woods during the Winter and it turned into a total listen to it when it’s sunny out type of song. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”Viana

Viana represents what it means to be 100% yourself, embracing both your strengths and flaws. She pushes her listeners to quit trying to fit into a certain mold and to create what feels right. After years of fronting rock bands, Viana decided to venture off and start writing her own music about whatever she personally needs to digest. With a style influenced by a combination of being a sucker for a catchy melody, yet still bringing a natural edge brought on by years of being a front woman of her band, this Gemini’s sound has a few different sides. Viana’s mission through music is to connect with people and remember that self expression should be about going with your gut and listening to your own instincts. Viana’s fierce independence has led to the shedding of her past and the incubation of this unapologetically Viana project: new, honest, and always true to who she is.

Viana’s newest single “About The Money” is available to stream on all DSPs today.

Dream Pop Band Mummy Diamonds Release New Track “One More Chance”

by

Mummy Diamonds latest release “One More Chance” is a haunting 80’s new-wave inspired project that touches on troublesome personalities, the addiction to drama and how sometimes we find ourselves being the motivator of the toxicity.

When discussing the concept behind “One More Chance,” James and Shanna Stein of Mummy Diamonds share:

“The first lyric that we wrote for it was ‘beg for the fire…’ It’s meant to be about that person who is always wanting drama, or creating chaos. That person who’s addicted to friction and neither of us can stand that personality, and maybe sometimes it’s one of us!” – James Stein, Mummy Diamonds

Mummy Diamonds also created the track aware that fans would relate to “One More Chance” in many different ways:

A lot of people these days are grappling with whether to persevere or jump ship, to burn it down or repair it. Just like them we’ve gone through these things. ‘One More Chance’ is personal, but at the end of the day it kind of doesn’t matter. It’s art. When you make music, people are going to relate to it however they wish” – Shanna Stein, Mummy Diamonds

Formed and based in Los Angeles, Mummy Diamonds is James Stein and Shanna Stein. MD was formed during a week-long getaway when their good friend and collaborator Zachary Busby was traveling from Delaware. As lifetime artists of various mediums, James and Shanna were embarking on a fresh musical start. They had begun writing and recording all new material unexpectedly congruent with that fateful visit from Zachary.

Maintaining yet building upon signature stylistic elements from James and Shanna’s past musical endeavors, MD represents artistic evolution. Blending a unique combination of musical elements from genres such as alternative, dream pop, island and folk combined with cinematic inspired haunting vocals and harmonies, Mummy Diamonds’ music is acoustic-based with wavy space synths, romantic guitars and grimy bass and drums. MD creates an oceanic vibe that can evoke a kaleidoscope of emotions for the listener. An empathic, spiritual vibe for all moods from romantic to introspective, sexy to macabre, Mummy Diamonds’s music always still somehow manages to uplift and remain life-affirming and hopeful.

LA Rock Band Wavy Trees Release New Music Video, “Hypocrite”

by

LA-based garage punk band Wavy Trees are sending their love to the brokenhearted in their latest single Hypocrite.” The song’s anthemic melodies and grunge undertones make for a perfect heartbreak sing-along.

What started as an “accident” during one of the band’s jam sessions, “Hypocrite” is an honest and pure testament to the frustrations of losing a relationship. The outlandish video takes the band through door-to-door “The Wavy Way” enlightenment recruitment in the San Fernando Valley. With doors constantly shut in the band’s faces, the four-piece ultimately decide to take their frustration out in the community with vandalism and more.

Zack Smith, the lead vocalist of Wavy Trees, shares the inspiration behind the track and video:

“‘Hypocrite’ is an anthem for those who were left behind by a lover. It’s about being sick of wasting your love on someone! When you love someone so much that even when they leave you, you still want them to take you with them when they go. It’s also the acceptance of losing someone. At the end of the day we all have that hypocritical side of us that wants things that aren’t the best for us.

The concept for the ‘Hypocrite’ music video came to us while driving around Los Angeles. Jason (our guitarist) noticed some missionaries going door-to-door and thought it would be hilarious is we dressed like they did. So, we decided to create our own make believe cult called “The Wavy Way” and use that concept to convey a satirical outlook on life in general. In the end, you will see that we were all hypocrites after all.”

If Wayne’s World and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure collided in an alternate reality House party, Los Angeles based Wavy Trees would be the band playing in the backyard.  The cosmic bartender at this gathering would be mixing swaggering hard rock riffs with the attitude and energy of garage-punk, dumping it into a shaker and pouring out a potent cocktail of we-could-give-a-f-ck fun.

Wavy Trees is made up of Zack “Moondog” Smith on lead vox/guitar/piano, Jason Espirito on guitar, Brian Duke on bass/guitar, and Jack Gallner on drums. The band is produced by the legendary Jay Baumgardner (Seether, Bush, Papa Roach, Lacuna Coil, Otherwise).

Pure xtc Releases New Single “Bad Dreams” Ahead of New EP Nobody’s Home

by

Dark pop artist pure xtc has released her newest single, “Bad Dreams” on all DSPs today. “Bad Dreams” is the late-at-night realization of the ending of a toxic relationship, and reliving all of its negative aspects. A track fueled with anger, “Bad Dreams” is the follow up to pure xtc‘s upcoming November 12th release Nobody’s Home EP.

“‘Bad Dreams’ is here to hold your hand while you’re lying awake at night, replaying the worst break up of your life. You’re finally waving goodbye to red flags you blindly ignored for years. The gaslighting, the guilt, the betrayal. The truth twisting into your back like a knife. You can retrace the steps, fantasize and recreate the outcome, but you can’t change it. This song is about that moment of acceptance when you’re not sad anymore, you’re just pissed.” – pure xtc

pure xtc formed during an extremely isolating period for multi-instrumentalist Taylor Hughes. In 2019, she packed her bags and moved to the New York City metro area, living on her own for the first time. Time was spent crying on subways, climbing rooftops, meeting and avoiding new people, feeling extremely fulfilled to feeling like a hollow empty shell. Thus sparked the inspiration behind Taylor Hughes’ debut single, “Ghost.”  A haunting electro-pop track inspired by her experience with isolation in a new environment, pure xtc explores the sensation of feeling like a ghost amid the excitement and people of a bustling city.

After temporarily relocating to the midwest during the pandemic, pure xtc has intertwined herself in the Kansas City music scene. As a queer artist herself, pure xtc strives to gain visibility and representation for the LGBTQIA+ community through her music. In August, the solo artist performed at Kansas City Pride.

pure xtc, as a project, is taking fans along for the highs and the lows of a very volatile ride.

Bad Dreams” by pure xtc is available for streaming across all DSPs today. Watch the official trailer for her upcoming EP, Nobody’s Home, releasing on November 12th of this year.

The Technicolors Announce New Album Cinema Sublimina and Drop Psychedelic Rock Track, “Nightvisions”

by

Arizona alt-rock band The Technicolors have returned with the release of their latest single “Nightvisions.” The track is a psychedelic blend of retro rock and pop melding together to form a sultry, energetic groove that nods to 80’s new wave and dance-funk. Along with unveiling “Nightvisions,” the band has announced the release details for their forthcoming LP, Cinema Sublimina, which will be released on October 22, 2021. “Nightvisions” will be accompanied on the album by the band’s leading singles “Howl” and “Dress Up For You,” which they released earlier this year. Check out the visualizer, directed by Eric Halvorsen, for “Nightvisions” here.

When discussing the concept behind “Nightvisions,” vocalist and guitarist Brennan Smiley shares:

We had just returned from being on tour in Brazil, where Austin [Scates] and I had extended our trip after the shows to stay on a farm with some friends. We all ended up back in the studio two days after returning to Arizona, in hopes of capturing some of that dynamic shift between a place so vibrant and unfamiliar and the desert, where we all grew up and that sensation of being on your toes is often hard to come by.

The song is sort of a cacophony of synthetic city lights and moonlit escapism and it definitely tells more of a story than originally intended, which seems to be a common theme. Wrote that one from scratch in the studio in a day after a sort of panic-failure of two different songs not working and all of us feeling pretty ‘stuck’. Sean had the riff – as soon as he started playing Scates sat down at the drums, started hitting this metal stool next to the kit as a part of the groove, Nico came in with his part, Bob rolled tape and it all went from there. It’s too bad we hadn’t been fighting before it all happened because the whole thing felt like a terrible outtake from ‘That Thing You Do’ or something.” – Brennan Smiley of The Technicolors

Since introducing themselves in 2012, Arizona’s The Technicolors have woven a luminous sonic tapestry of fuzz-fueled riffs existing somewhere between the gloomy echoes of 90’s Britpop and the snake-charmed stars of the Sonoran desert. The band’s vast and diverse catalog is highlighted by a slew of critically-praised singles, including: “Space Cadet,” “Tonight You Are Mine,” “Neon Roses,” and “Songbird.”

The band has been fortunate to share the stage with an impressive roster of genre-spanning artists including Matt Maeson, The Maine, Turnover, The Wrecks and Psychedelic Furs.

Be sure to check out the official visualizer for “Nightvisions,” and stream the new single on DSPs everywhere. The forthcoming album, Cinema Sublimina, will be available worldwide on October 22nd of this year.

by

After the success of their sophomore single, “Different,” anthemic pop duo Wild Story is continuing their momentum with their latest single, It’s Happening.” The single represents an important milestone in the band’s career, as it was the first song that band members Kate Hargrove and Viv Parker have ever written together. Composed during the global pandemic, “It’s Happening” is the foundation of Wild Story, and its dark yet hopeful soundscape perfectly encapsulates the band’s sound and message.

Nathan Harrington Touches on the State of the World With Powerful Ballad “Storm Before the Calm”

by

Emerging singer/songwriter Nathan Harrington is taking us through the depths of what it means to stay united; using love and understanding as an approach in our battles instead of resorting to hate. His newest single and music video, “Storm Before the Calmis available on all DSPs today.

Storm Before the Calm” is an emotional track that reflects on the current state of our divided world. With vocal prowess, Nathan conveys his emotions in a way that has audiences pondering their own personal agenda:

Our modern world is so divided, you can see the fear swelling up all around it. And there’s nothing more frightening than what fear does to people. War, violence, hate, anything to survive; but how about love? For years I have wondered why we never approach our ‘big issues’ with love, but now I know. And it has everything to do with power. If the powers that be would put their egos aside and act in love, you would see that it works. But until then, storm before the calm.” – Nathan Harrington

With a sound that is uniquely his own, Nathan Harrington combines elements of pop, rock, and soul to bring a bold and captivating sound to life. Nathan infuses his music with the cultural elements of Latin music, influenced by his Puerto Rican roots and island artists like Bob Marley and Toots & the Maytals. His musical inspiration helps to hone his tone while contemporary influences like Ed Sheeran, John Mayer and Jason Mraz point him towards the next generation of California singer-songwriters.

When it comes to songwriting – living is Nathan’s biggest intrigue. Whether it’s exploring nature on a hike, surfing the sea, or channeling meditation, the world’s generosity can be translated into his music. Aside from singing, Nathan plays instruments such as guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, and percussion. He’s shared the bill with artists such as Jacob Collier, 2 Chains, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter and Jed’s A Millionaire to name a few. Nathan has also been in numerous modeling campaigns, TV shows, and was cast in Jordan Peele’s movie “Us.”

Artist Lexxi Saal Is The Crossroad of Soul and Pop in Latest Single “Bang!”

by

Lexxi Saal is an emerging LA-based recording artist whose music is bliss pop perfection with a raw attitude. Her newest single, “Bang!” is absolutely addictive – the kind of song that encapsulates all the drama with a martini. As a songwriter, Lexxi Saal has penned for notable pop acts such as Ava Max, and numerous CPOP and KPOP artists. It doesn’t stop there though: you may have heard her songs on shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, The Hills, Dynasty and more.

I had the chance to talk with Lexxi about her newest single, and the inspiration behind her music and more.

Congrats on the release of “Bang!” What was the inspiration behind the track?
The inspiration behind the track was wanting to incorporate “going out with a bang” somewhere in the story line, and the rest just started flowing. “Bang!” has a cinematic feel to it.

What was the creative process for this song like?
Cinema and soul are a power combination. I love adding the drama and hard hits to portray the song in a cinematic way.

What has been the most exciting part of releasing “Bang!”?
Being able to put the music that I believe in out is such a freeing feeling. Every time I have a release I get excited for my listeners to hear my sound as it evolves throughout each song I write.

Who are some of the artists you draw inspiration from?
I am inspired and musically influenced by Amy Winehouse and Leon Bridges. I am a sucker for some soulful raw talent.

What has been the most surreal moment for you in your musical career so far?
Being able to collaborate and be in the room with such talented people is something I am so grateful for and makes the moments of creating music that much more special.

What’s next for you and your musical journey?
I am writing and releasing more music. Also working on an exciting project that I can’t wait to share with everyone SOOOOOON.

Synth-Pop Artist I Am Boleyn Releases Euphoric Single “Until the Summer Ends”

by

Synth-pop UK artist I Am Boleyn has dropped the perfect track for August.Until the Summer Ends” is simply put: 80s synth-pop perfection. Influenced by the likes of Robyn, Mo and Goldfrapp, “Until the Summer Ends” is an effortless single that captures the importance of living in the now, since in the end: there’s nothing left to lose.

Spending her time between London and Stockholm, I Am Boleyn grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, went to Oxford University to study history, and has been writing songs since she was young. Growing up with music being at the forefront of her life, it was always written in the stars that this artist is destined for great things. Always turning to music as an escapism, I Am Boleyn shares, “I think that music is one of the most powerful, emotional tools we have”.

I had the chance to talk about the latest euphoric track with I Am Boleyn and the inspiration behind it.

How did “Until the Summer Ends” come to be? What inspired the track?
I went to Sweden in May this year to do some recording – I traveled on the first day I
could. It was amazing and strange to be traveling again and to go to a country that
had such a different Covid experience to most places. It made me think about how
much we long for connection. Summer for me encapsulates that feeling of freedom
and closeness we have all be craving.

What genres or artists have inspired your music?
I fell in love with Lana Del Rey and Florence the Machine’s first albums. They felt so fresh
and urgent. Recently I’ve been listening to The Midnight and Annie who have
definitely inspired the synth mood of the track.

How does the song fit into your pandemic experience? What are you walking away
with after living in isolation?
One of the biggest lessons for me after isolation is to not hold on too dearly to plans. They
are probably going to change so don’t worry too much about it!

What do you hope listeners take away from the song?
Mainly I hope that they feel happy listening to it – we really had fun making it and I want the
nostalgia of it to make people smile.

What has been your favorite reaction to the new single?
My manager was so excited when he heard it! That was great to get that feedback. I can’t
wait to see what everything else thinks.

How have you incorporated your feminist values into your music and career?
There are lots of ways to stand up for your views and be counted – I don’t shy away from
calling things out and also speaking my mind if I’m asked in interviews. Another
small way to uplift women is to use your platform – whatever its size – to support
them. It’s really important to support other woman’s work. Repost their song, go to
their play, tell a friend about their new business. Women have been encouraged to
see others as competition within the desired male framework and it’s nonsense!
Women are very powerful when they help each other.

What’s on the horizon for I Am Boleyn?
I have my first gig in ages on September 22nd at Old Street Records in London! I am so
excited to sing live again.
