The best home items to buy on Wayfair that will elevate small spaces

by

Rumor: Small spaces are impossible to live in.

Fact: With the right home items, living in a small space can be what you treasure most.

There’s a lot of research and preparation that goes into decorating and furnishing an apartment. Recently, I had to choose between buying a coffee or dining room table because my dinky New York flat is extremely limited in space. While most people would get frustrated and think that the only way to survive would be to upgrade in size, I learned that there were ways to maneuver around my serious lack of storage and square footage.

If you’re wondering just how small of a space I’m talking about, picture this; there are no hallway closets for bath linens and miscellaneous products, no designated pantry space for snacking, and don’t even get me started on the 19 x 19 inch counter space I have for kitchen prep. Not only is my storage space extremely limited, but there simply isn’t room for everything. Living in a small space isn’t difficult, but having to pick out your most desired basic essentials, now that’s hard.

After making harsh decisions to pass on the larger home items, I quickly realized that deciding on a colored sofa was the least of my worries. I needed to get creative and fast. So, I decided to do a little research on how to properly decorate in order to spruce the place up, all while decluttering my living situation.

While mastering the phrase ballin’ on a budget, I turned to the most trustworthy online furniture and home-goods shop I could find that fit my style and pricing; cue Wayfair.

Home to the land of barginers, I naturally went straight to sale to see what the best deals were. Lucky for you, Wayfair’s extended their end of year clearance clear out sale to up to 60% off! I found five essential home items on sale that were without a doubt the best purchases I could have imagined for my small space. Read on to check out how these under $100 Wayfair items elevated my New York flat and created a storage-savvy apartment!

  1. Drew Kitchen Cart, $83.99

This Drew Kitchen Cart is great for easy-access and visual storage. If you’re anything like me, coffee is a morning essential. Over the last few years, I have built up quite the collection of at-home coffee items: a French press, a pour over, a milk frother, various mugs, and so much more. This kitchen cart was a great way for me to display my coffee collection and keep everything organized.

2. Pot Hanger Rack, $49.99

Who says your kitchen appliances need to be stored away in a drawer? This attachable Pot Hanger Rack was such a fun and unique way for me to add a bit of spice to my kitchen! I never realized how fun it could be to build a collection of home items and actually want to put them out on display.

3. Removable Patterned Wallpaper, $1.09 / sq ft

This was hands down the most exciting purchase I made. There is nothing easier and more underrated than throwing in an accent wall in your living room, bedroom, kitchen, or bathroom. This Patterned Wallpaper doesn’t take up any space or damage the previous paint job. What more convincing do you need?

4. Tiered Side Table, $89.99

The best part about getting multi-tiered tables is that they provide extra storage. Display magazines, books, plants, and other home items you want to show off on this marble and gold side table for a more luxe look.

5. Asymmetrical Wall Mirror, $77.99

Out with the old and in with the new! Say goodbye to rectangle frames and try something a little more unique, like this Asymmetrical Mirror. Mirrors provide depth, and in a room where you try to salvage all the space you can get, adding a mirror to a wall is not only a nice touch, but a fun surprise every time you walk by.

15 Lessons no one teaches you in a New York rom-com

by

While not all of us would like to admit it, if we had to choose between a New York rom-com or an action film, the majority votes to fantasize about love in one of the most romantic, lively cities in the world. There’s something about a Matthew Mcconaughey and Kate Hudson film that warms your heart and makes you daydream about what it would be like to move to the city of opportunities and become a big dreamer.

Speaking from experience, I am one to support the rather cliche idea of moving to the big city to start your life over, fall in love and become successful in your career path. But where did these ideas stem from?

The answer is simple. Rom-coms. I blame (yet hopelessly admire) all the classic ‘90s films and television series’ that allowed me to daydream about the perfect New York apartment and imagine that living in the snow was as white and dreamy as it sounds. Reality check— it’s not exactly like the movies portray it to be…

Don’t get me wrong, living in a New York apartment is a treasurous milestone within itself. Apartment hunting, learning to navigate the subway, and standing on your own two feet is exhilarating and oh, so rewarding. Every day is an adventure, not everybody is meant to live in New York, that’s for sure. But after obsessively rewatching the hit-sitcom television show FRIENDS and binging all fashion-related movies starring Anne Hathaway, I seemed to have built up a false annotation of what living in New York is truly like.

Not every day is filled with the stereotypical city activities you imagine— especially not in COVID-19 times. Most evenings don’t consist of getting drinks at The Plaza or taking a sunset stroll through Central Park. Some days are pure magic when you step outside and simply feel the energy roaming through the air with a hot coffee in hand. Then there are laundry days, which are…not so glamorous.

So far, here’s what I’ve learned:

  1. Hailing a cab isn’t as easy (or graceful) as it looks.
  2. The subway is nice and all, but have you heard of Uber?
  3. There’s no way that Carrie Bradshaw could afford her Upper East Side apartment AND her Manolo Blahnik shoe collection. Carrie, you can’t have your cake and eat it, too.
  4. A savings account? Never heard of her.
  5. Avoid Times Square. Don’t ask why, just do it.
  6. You better get comfortable living in a shoebox-sized apartment, probably with a roommate!
  7. Monica Geller’s two-bedroom flat is not a reasonable New York apartment. That thing is huge.
  8. Most of us don’t live above a coffee shop or bakery, most of us live above a Thai restaurant or Dumpling kitchen.
  9. If your apartment doesn’t have window air conditioners, get two to start, then buy two more.
  10. Stay away from the moving trash piles on Tuesdays (squeak, squeak).
  11. That job you and 567 others applied to on LinkedIn? Yeah, you’re not hearing back from them.
  12. Dating is non-existent in the winter time, less people out on the street.
  13. Dating apps are definitely, most definitely not as romantic as how J-Lo met her man in the rain underneath the nearest dry hotel overhang.
  14. It’s all about who you know.
  15. You learn to love it.

Some people question why you would want to move to New York, pay the expensive rent, work excessive hours, and live uncomfortably; both in weather and apartment size. It’s because we hope and dream that somewhere, somehow in such a city that never sleeps, there’s something waiting for us. May that be a job, a lover, a friend or an opportunity, it’s there. You just have to find it.

What’s inside Jennifer Lopez’s JLO Beauty launch?

by

Cue the dance music, we are celebrating today! Two weeks ago when Jennifer Lopez hinted at the creation of her new beauty line on her Instagram page, the JLovers we’re asking some need-to-know questions. Is it a makeup line? Is it a skincare collection?

After patiently waiting for the reveal of JLO Beauty, we are no longer curious. Announced today on @jlobeauty was the official lineup for her new skincare line. Featuring eight glow enhancing products from eye creams to cleansers, JLO is sharing her secret to achieving timeless skin.

While it seems to be the recent trend for celebrities to create their own beauty line, bringing something new to the table is quite important. Luckily, JLO knows how to refer back to her roots and connect with her fans like it’s the early 2000’s and Jenny just came back on the block! Lopez is bringing a fresh, new spin to the launch of beauty.

If there’s anyone that can wear beauty on the inside and out, it’s JLO. Our favorite surprise from the reveal was her passion for taking care of your body and well-being. She told Elle USA that beauty starts with self love, positive thinking, and taking your dietary supplements! Being released in the collection mid-January is her very own dietary supplement to help you maintain and care for that inner love.

As if you needed another reason to #fangirl over JLO (besides the obvious), in her Instagram Live Stream she connected with her viewers on how important to her it was to create affordable pricing. After all, beauty is really for everyone.

“I wanted to create everyday products that were affordable, yet still very luxurious,” said Lopez in her Instagram Live. “I love them, I know you guys are going to love them.”

Touching on her chic, gold product packaging in the live, she said “they are beautiful products and they will look so nice on your vanity.”

JLO Beauty prices range from $18 – $79. Sign me up (literally)!

Starting now, you can sign up on jlobeauty.com to get early access and pre-order her newest collection on December 8th!

Here’s what’s inside Jennifer Lopez’s newest beauty and skincare collection:

THAT JLO GLOW Multitasking Serum

THAT LIMITLESS GLOW Multitasking Mask

THAT BIG SCREEN Broad Spectrum SPF 30

THAT BLOCKBUSTER Wonder Cream

THAT HIT SINGLE Gel-Creme Cleanser

THAT FRESH TAKE Eye Cream

THAT STAR FILTER Complexion Booster

THAT INNER LOVE Dietary Supplement

The secret to soft and glowy skin doesn’t end at your nighttime facial routine. To wrap up the Instagram Live launch, JLO told her viewers to stay tuned for 2021 because “there will be a glow for body coming out later next year.”

Once again, JLO you’ve done it again! Congrats on the beauty launch! Follow @jlobeauty on Instagram for more product updates and more.

Cliche Mag’s Holiday Gift Guide

by

And just like that, we’re wrapping up the year 2020. As we say goodbye to the fallen autumn leaves and pumpkin spice lattes, and hello to gingerbread cookies and Christmas trees, we’re now entering December knowing that the holiday season might be looking a little different this year.

Gathering in smaller groups may not be the ideal way to spend the holiday season, but there are ways to make up for not being all together eating a meal over the dining room table. While we may take the gift-giving season for granted, this year’s gifts should be especially meaningful in order to spread the love while social distancing.

These last few months have been anything but the ordinary, but one of the upsides to having a Corona-Christmas is that you don’t have to immerse yourself in the holiday chaos! No more shopping in crowded malls for the same old department store deals. This year, we will be shopping in our pj’s from the comfort of our own home.

We’re spreading lots of joy this year, especially online. If you haven’t thought much about what gifts you need to stock up on, no need to worry— Cliche has got you covered. Read on to check out what the Cliche team is buying this holiday season.

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Wood, I am Cliche’s Beauty and Lifestyle Writer.

“Not to tip my own hat or anything, but over quarantine I would say I became a pretty savvy baker. All thanks to the love and nurturing of a sourdough starter, I was up at the crack of dawn every morning making homemade bread loafs, different flavored bagels and crisp baguettes with my baguette baker. This holiday season, I am determined to learn how to cook (of course, with the proper chic materials).”

The Always Pan from Our Place is all the rave this holiday season. This non stick pan acts as more than just a pretty piece of kitchenware. For just $95, you’re getting the ultimate all-in-one pan that will replace your fry pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, and sauce pan!

Per usual, I’ll be decorating the dinner table this season. Setting the ambiance is important, ok? Elevate your holiday decor by freshening up your wine cabinet with these Crate and Barrel glasses.

I may want to learn how to cook, but hey— I’m still a beauty lover! To add onto the list of reasons why Biossance is one of my favorite skincare brands, they offer a variety of samples for customers to test out. This season I’ll be trying the resurfacing night serum, but I can safely recommend that their rosehip oil is a life saver!

Hi, my name is Pooja Subramanian, I am Cliche’s Music and Entertainment Writer.

“Since this holiday season will be a bit different, I’m really looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday season. I’m hoping to see some fun and beautiful holiday decorations on the houses near me because it’s one of my favorite parts of the season! Also, I’m looking forward to eating good food and watching some classic holiday movies with my family. I hope all of our readers have a safe, healthy and happy holiday season!”

This holiday season, I think it would be hysterical to order this custom dog portrait off Etsy. Pets are family, too!

I will be taking all precautions necessary to relax this holiday season. Perhaps with this Amazon paint by numbers kit!

Weighted blankets are really great, not only do they help maintain anxiety, they also help you get a much deeper sleep. I’ll be Amazon priming this one!

My name is Madhura and I am interning as an entertainment writer at Cliche.

“This holiday season, I look forward to enjoying some downtime with both my family and myself. I’m looking forward to cozying up on the couch to watch a good family movie. I am most definitely looking forward to continuing to read and write, mostly for myself. We are a family of foodies, so above all, I am excited to try out new recipes and fill up on indulgent meals.”

The Origins Skincare Bestsellers Set is the best of both worlds. It’s on the affordable side, yet totally luxurious. This one’s for the all the skincare lovers in your life.

David’s Chocolate Earl Grey Tea is for all the tea lovers of course. But it’s also for anyone that wants to cozy up with something fragrant and warm on cold holiday mornings or nights… or really any time of the day. Anytime is indeed tea time!

There’s nothing better than a good old book to settle down with during the holidays. December is always family time, but there’s no harm in sparing a moment for yourself with a satisfying, Christmas-themed book! I highly recommend Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot’s Christmas.

My name is Livia Caligor, I am Cliche’s Art & Culture Writer.

“Born and raised in New York, I remember my mom and I would spend the holiday season visiting the beautiful window installations at 5th Avenue department stores, roaming the Columbus Circle holiday market, and building snowmen in Central Park. I’ve realized that what I cherish about these memories are not just the intricate lights and seasonal treats, but the festive family time it fosters. Things will likely be different this year amidst the pandemic, but I look forward to recreating these experiences within my bubble at home. As a college student, especially amidst the pandemic, time at home is rare, so I am excited to devote the holiday season to going home and spending time with my family.”

I am excited to give this Gingerbread House set, which is allergen-friendly, to my family, and spend the holidays building one together.

I would love to gift my friend a vibrant block-print holiday scarf.

I am loving these Dauphinette quirky, one-of-a-kind fruit earrings.

My name is Erin Watson and I am a lifestyle writer at Cliche.

“I’m looking forward to watching Hallmark Christmas movies with my family and eating a ton of badly decorated sugar cookies!”

Cozy up with this Amazon essential. I couldn’t live without mine!

There’s something about a personalized charcuterie board that just sits right with me. I know my mom would love it! Thanks for the idea, Etsy.

A perfect gift for a friend or sibling would be a ring with their birth flower on it. Such a cute idea I saw on Etsy that isn’t your zodiac sign!

My name is Julie Ham and I’m currently a writing intern.

“Admittedly, this holiday season I’m most looking forward to shopping for holiday gifts. I’ve always loved the process of gift-giving: the thinking of the perfect gift based on someone’s characteristics and person, it’s a psychological puzzle that I love solving. And this year, I have more time than ever to find the perfect gift for my friends and families.”

This Morphe palette will allow me to test out my makeup skills! I’m looking forward to seeing some bold colors.

There’s nothing better than sitting by the fire with a good book in hand! I recommend this one from Barns and Noble.

I love Baggu! I never go anywhere without my reusable bags. They’re light and chic, what more can you want?

My name is Quavondo Nguyen, I am Cliches Editor-in-Chief

“To be honest, I’m looking forward to the vaccine. Although I doubt that it will arrive by the holiday season. 2020 has been a year to forget, but luckily I sense an upswing starting with the election. Our country was teetering on a societal collapse.”

To pass time in isolation, I found that these Buffalo puzzle pieces fit well together. Some jigsaw puzzles aren’t cut as well so it leaves you second guessing where the piece goes.

With quarantine, I’ve been working on the house more and find it frustrating when you don’t have the right tools for the job. You can basically fix anything with this Zoopy product in hand!

Do blue light glasses actually work or are they all hype?

by

While blue light glasses may be the perfect Zoom essential, there’s been some question on whether or not they actually work. Some say they’re just for show, some say they’re for people who don’t really need glasses but want to wear them to look smart (guilty). But what really sparked my interest in the hype for blue light glasses was when I learned what blue light actually was. Turns out, it’s not so good for you. And after looking at my weekly screen time, I figured investing in a pair or two wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

As somebody who spends over five hours a day staring at a screen, I noticed my eyes felt heavier, my headaches were becoming unbearable, and when I started to drift off in the middle of my favorite Netflix series, I knew something was wrong. Naturally, I went straight to Amazon and ordered a pair that resonated with me most, the tortoise cat-eye shape and style of course, and within those two days of prime shipping, I was researching the benefits. Here’s what I found:

What is blue light?

According to Blutech, blue light is a high energy light vision that can be seen by the human eye. Turns out, it’s not just on your smartphone. Blue light is everywhere, even in the sky!

Should I be concerned about blue light?

Blutech says, “blue light flickers easier and longer than other types of weaker wavelengths. This flickering casts a glare that reduces your visual contrast, affecting clarity and sharpness. This can cause eye strain, physical and mental fatigue and headaches if you use your electronic devices or sit in front of a computer all day.”

What symptoms prove I should probably wear blue light glasses?

The American Optometric Association says the most common symptoms of digital eye strain (also known as computer vision syndrome) are eye strain, headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes and neck and shoulder pain. Yikes– I have all those!

What are the benefits of wearing blue light glasses?

For Eyes says the top three benefits of wearing blue light glasses are that they relieve eye discomfort, you get a better night’s rest, and they can help reduce your risk of blindness. In other words, blue light glasses can’t hurt.

What are the best brands?

Blue light glasses can range anywhere form $15 – $100. Who’s to say what brand is best? But if you’re still a little skeptical, I would advise you first try out a pair from a small-brand on Amazon, then work your way up to a more expensive pair if you feel they are a great addition to your work from home routine. Here’s the under $20 duo pair I started off with and they’re still a fan favorite.

The answer? CBD.

Fun fact: CBD’s anti-inflammatory effects may help soothe dry skin and help hydrate. Whether it be infused gummies, edible oils, or sunscreens and serums, this market is redefining how we relax. After the year we’ve had, I think we all could infuse a little chill to our lives. The 2020 CBD survey conducted by Single Care reported that 45% of current CBD users have increased their use of CBD since the global coronavirus pandemic, (wow!)

After doing some extensive research on this hot commodity item, it turns out this multi-billion dollar industry is not just another health and wellness fad inspired by the marijuana industry it’s here to stay. And since it’s not going anywhere anytime soon, we all better get comfortable asking some pretty uncomfortable questions. I took the liberty of putting together a very digestible Q&A with a CBD pro to answer all those questions that you might feel a little weird to ask or research about.

Amy McDonald, President and CEO of Alternative Biologics (also known as ALTWELL), has worked in the flavor, food ingredient and pharma/biotech industry for over 25 years. She has led multi million-dollar global companies to success and built herself a career in the CBD world. Lucky for you, this #bosswoman is here to talk about all things CBD, including how to incorporate CBD products into your daily beauty routine and how to determine if CBD is right for you.

Check out my Q&A with Amy McDonald below.

What does CBD stand for, and what is it?

CBD stands for “cannabidiol”, which is just one of the many cannabinoids found in hemp. CBD is non-intoxicating and has been associated with many health and wellness benefits. Cannabinoids have been used for centuries and they interact with the endocannabinoid system in our bodies which is associated with these compounds.

What is CBD compared to THC?

CBD and THC are cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, but they are very different. THC is the psychoactive component found in hemp, while CBD is non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive, so it will not make you high.

What is the difference between hemp and hemp seed oil? Are they the same?

They are not the same! Hemp seed oil is produced by and extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant, which does NOT contain CBD. CBD is extracted from the whole hemp plant, mainly the flower itself.

Will CBD alter my state of mind?

It certainly may! We’ve heard many positive reviews from our customers that CBD helps calm their nerves, reduces anxiety and gives them an overall sense of calm and balance. Something we all need these days! CBD will not alter your mind the way that THC does; it is non-intoxicating.

What are the health benefits of CBD?

We’ve heard a variety of positive feedback from people who have incorporated CBD into their daily lives. Some report that CBD helps manage anxiety, improves sleep, eases physical discomfort or muscle pain, reduces inflammation and lessened PMS or menopause symptoms.

Can I give my dog CBD to calm down?

We have definitely heard of many instances where CBD was helpful for pets with anxiety and other issues. Check with your vet to see about a good treatment plan for your furry friend!

What are some of the different ways I can use CBD?

The possibilities seem endless! Ingestibles are very common, either through a gummy or a softgel/capsule, or even more creatively ALTWELL has a protein powder with CBD, so you can have it in your morning or post-workout shake! Tincture is another really popular ingestible, which is CBD mixed with a carrier oil (like MCT). You use CBD tincture with a dropper bottle, and place a few drops under your tongue (sublingually). You can also use CBD topically, in a Sports Balm or lotion/cream, as well as beauty products like serums. CBD is often available through vape/inhalation products. How much should I take?

This differs person to person and truly there is no magic answer. We like the saying “start low and go slow”, meaning start with a small dose and stay consistent for a week or so to see how you feel. Then make tiny adjustments up or down until you find the right amount for you.

What time of day should I take it?

This also greatly differs by personal preference. Some prefer taking CBD in the morning to start their day off in the right direction. Others take it a few times throughout the day as needed to help stay balanced and even keeled, no matter what the day entails! Evening or bedtime is a popular time where CBD may help you relax and drift off to sleep.

What role does CBD play in the beauty industry?

CBD in beauty products are popping up everywhere! It has been said that CBD can help minimize redness & inflammation by providing antioxidants and helps with hydration. Some have even said it helps fight acne. For these reasons, many brands have been exploring adding CBD to everyday beauty products, such as creams, lotions, serums, masks, you name it.

I have dry skin, does CBD help certain skin conditions such as eczema and dry skin?

CBD’s anti-inflammatory effects may help soothe dry skin and help hydrate. We have a few people in our office who swear it helps with itchy skin as well! One of downsides of the changing weather.

How can I incorporate CBD into my beauty routine?

To see if CBD could have some of these positive effects on your skin, we’d suggest trying out one CBD beauty product and seeing how your skin reacts. Don’t swap EVERY beauty product you use for a CBD infused version – take it slow and go from there!

Are there negative side effects to CBD?

According to mayoclinic.org, CBD is generally well tolerated but some of the side effects could be dry mouth, reduced appetite, drowsiness and fatigue.

Why is CBD so expen$ive?

CBD has a complex supply chain, a multiple-step harvest and extraction process, and several important testing regimes…. And this is all before the CBD itself is even put into the ingestible or topical end-product.  For example, at ALTWELL we test each product at least three times before it is on the shelf and available for you to purchase.  CBD is available at many price points, and we encourage you to do your research.  Look for a CBD product with transparency and even a Certificate of Analysis of 3rd party testing results that can be found online. Find companies that utilize child-resistant packaging.  Keep an eye out for those that use hand-picked flower versus traditional farming methods meant for crops like wheat and corn.  All these things make a difference in efficacy and quality.

Panic mode, I’m new to this! What brands do you recommend?

We have quite a laundry list of questions to ask yourself before deciding which CBD brand to purchase from. Has this company done this before? Are they nutrition / supplement professionals? Do they test their products and do they believe in transparency (i.e. sharing their testing results with you). Our team at ALTWELL has worked in food and beverage manufacturing for decades, where safety and regulatory excellence are expectations. We also triple test our products through a third party lab, and make all testing results available for the consumer to review through our website.

Tell us a little bit about ALTWELL.

ALTWELL was founded by the Pickett family who have been in the wellness industry for years, best known for creating and selling the Muscle Milk brand of sports nutrition products. They were intrigued by the benefits of CBD but could not find a brand that met their standards. ALTWELL was born! We’ve created a line of honest, simple products that meet the highest standards of quality and taste. Our mission is helping people live their healthiest and most balanced lives naturally.

Craving Simplicity in Your Skincare Routine? Try This

by

Are you ever curious to know what’s really in your skincare products? You deserve to know what you’re putting on your face every night. If you’re somebody who has an allergy or skin condition, you would understand the same struggle I have of trying to find products that can be applied to sensitive skin. Every time I turn the bottle around to look at the list of one million ingredients, I see words like glycerin, ethylhexyl palmitate, and cocamidopropyl. I don’t mean to be blunt, but what the f*@#! does that mean?

There’s nothing worse than reading the fine print of a beauty bottle and seeing hundreds of fancy words that are not only a little intimidating, but also a little scary. All-in-all, I’m just tired of using products that simply aren’t helping me no matter how hard I try or how often I use them. Say this part with me, “I want to know what I am applying to my face every night, I want to see brands use natural supplements, and I want to be able to read the ingredients in a way that I can understand!”

In order to keep my frustrations to a minimum, I started doing some research on affordable, natural facial products that will bring some simplicity to my skincare routine. But first, I had to give myself a reality check. Do I really need all of these products that are in my drawer? No more empty bottles and no more free testers— we are cleansing more than just our skin today. Say goodbye to all the products you’re keeping around because you (and I quote) “think you might use one day.” Girl, get rid of it.

Harsh love comes with a piping hot side of reality, so truly I am sorry to be the one who has to give it to you. The truth is, you don’t need all of those lotions (even if they were on sale, *insert heart breaking emoji*). After stage one is complete, you get to move onto stage two, research. Lucky for you, I’ve taken it upon myself to do the hard part for you. Here are the best natural and organic makeup and skincare brands I’ve found so far.

Milk Makeup has been a favorite of mine for years. I love how they spell out in digestible terms for their customers exactly what’s in their products, while heavily emphasizing they’re a vegan brand. This Vegan Milk Moisturizer has four main ingredients; Desert Milk, Fig Milk, Oat Milk, and Argan Milk. I guess now I know why they call it Milk Makeup!

100% PURE Beauty has a complete line of natural fruit pigmented makeup, wellness, skincare, hair and body products. Their Puristry Flower Water Toner is natural, vegan, gluten free, and cruelty free. Its main ingredients like rose water, witch hazel, and calendula reduce irritation and inflammation, all while balancing your oil control.

The last brand I am going to show you is Tula. This Tula Milk Cleanser does wonders for people who experience dry patches and itchy skin because it contains a very special ingredient called Colloidal Oatmeal, which soothes your skin and helps retain its moisture. Tula also has a section on their website where you can find what products and ingredients work best for you based on your personal skin concerns. Take the skin quiz here!

Thanks Tik Tok for introducing me to the perfect fall beverage.

by

Don’t show up empty handed to this weekend’s cocktail hour. As Halloween is creeping up quickly, trying to find the perfect fall beverage that everyone will love can seem impossible. It wasn’t until one crisp, fall evening where a Tik Tok notification appeared out of nowhere and it turned out to be my saving grace. No longer am I worried about what to bring to the next holiday party this season because the ingredients to this easy to follow, step-by-step Tik Tok cocktail are already in my pantry. Introducing, the ultimate fall old fashioned.

This fall beverage satisfies that evening sweet tooth without having to indulge in all the candy. It’s combination of mulling spices and apple cider gently cuts out the bitter aftertaste that some of us newly-whiskey drinkers don’t long for. Although some don’t like to admit it, I’m not ashamed to say I prefer a sweet and decorated cocktail. That’s why this Halloween is the perfect excuse to step up your autumn cocktail game and get creative because this is too easy to pass up.

No bartender training necessary. Yep— that’s right! Even a cocktail rookie could perfect this recipe in just one take. All you have to do is follow the five steps below and watch @spiritedla’s Tik Tok for some fall-themed inspiration.

@spiritedla

Happy bourbon season.🍁🥃 #fyp #bourbon #makeadrink #oldfashioned #daydrinking #fall #howto

♬ Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree – Glenn Miller

Here’s what you need:

1 Cup of Apple Cider

1 Cup of Brown Sugar

1/4 Cup of Mulling Spices

2 1/2 oz of Bourbon

A Dash of Orange Bitters

OPTIONAL: Apple Slices, Orange Slices, Cinnamon Stick

STEP ONE:

After you’ve assembled all your ingredients, you’re going to start by making a syrup. Gather your finest pot, add a cup of fresh apple cider to a simmer and then slowly add in a cup of brown sugar.

STEP TWO:

Once that is mixed together in the pot, add in a quarter cup of mulling spices and allow the mixture to simmer for five minutes while stirring occasionally.

STEP THREE:

Once your timer goes off, strain the mixture into a glass and allow it to cool.

STEP FOUR:

In a separate glass filled with ice, add in half an ounce of the syrup mixture and two and a half ounces of the bourbon of your choosing.

STEP FIVE:

In that same glass, add in two dashes of apple and two dashes of orange bitters. Stir well before pouring and garnishing!

OPTIONAL STEP SIX:

For optional garnishing, you can add sliced apples or oranges to perfect that dreamy, fall old fashioned!

Thanks @spiritedla for the tip, enjoy!
