Get Real: Aerie Releases New Unretouched Lingerie Campaign

Honesty really is the best policy—at least, this is what American Eagle thinks of its Spring lingerie campaign, #AerieReal. In an industry where excessive airbrushing is the norm, Aerie portrays real models in their most relatable form: unretouched—stretch marks, tattoos, tummies, and all. And the results are refreshingly glorious.
“We left everything,” Aerie’s style and fit expert Jenny Altman told ABC News. “We left beauty marks, we left tattoos, what you see is really what you get with our campaign.”
The line, which is geared towards teenagers and younger women, prides itself in creating a healthy image of a girl’s body—instead of the usual, unrealistic ideal seen in most lingerie ads—to promote self-love and confidence.
“It’s a selling point because our customers represent this great demographic and they don’t really get to see what girls their age really look like,” explains Jenny Altman. And we couldn’t agree more.
