Fashion

Ed Letter: Feb/Mar 2015

If you know me at all, you’ll know I have a love-hate relationship with winter. On the one hand, I love winter fashion—dark colors, oversized sweaters, ankle boots, wool scarves… there’s something just so cozy about it all. I could even argue that very few things compare to the magic of snowfall, to a normally bustling city being quietly blanketed with a layer of white. The world slows down, and busy people like myself (who may or may not realize they need a break!) are forced to slow down with it.

On the other hand, there is something about the sun-basking and the blooming trees that I miss right around this February mark. And that’s exactly where we are now: battling through blizzards in between seasons.

For this issue, like most people currently in the New York City area (I’m glaring at you, warm team out West!), we’re slowly beginning to transition from ice to sun. That means spring hair and beauty trends (pg. 33), nail trends (pg. 30), and even lighter fashion pieces to replace our over-worn sweaters (pg. 29). Hoping to set the mood for the changing of seasons, we’ve gathered some gorgeous fashion editorials shot by some very talented photographers (pg. 114 and pg. 126) with spring in mind. This issue is filled with beautiful models, fashionable clothes, and your next favorite bands. What’s not to love?

Our February and March cover girls are prepping for spring fashion, too! The Flash’s Kelly Frye stuns in her skinny jeans, black & white striped blouse, and blue Louboutins (pg. 84), and 12 Monkeys star Amanda Schull is a channeling her inner romantic in a delicate blush Coco Johnsen gown (pg. 76). Be sure to check out our interviews with them as well to learn more about their blooming acting careers and exciting new projects.

What’s my absolute favorite thing about this winter-to-spring transition phase? My birthday, of course, and the fact that I share it with some seriously talented celebs (like Coldplay’s Chris Martin, for example). Now, if only we could have a party together…

I hope you enjoy the issue!
