Cliché: Have you always been interested in fashion? If not, what is the point in your life that really attracted you to this industry and lifestyle?
Anastasia Souris: Absolutely, fashion has forever been a part of my life. Even as a little girl I was cutting up dresses, having mini photo shoots in my backyard, and drawing designs in a sketchbook. I recently came across a bunch of old photos of my “photoshoots” from when I was little and the only thing I could think of was, “Wow, I have not changed one bit.” Super embarrassing but too funny to get rid of!

If I remember correctly, there was a point in your fashion career where you were active on the design path. Is fashion design something you’re pursuing or is it more of a hobby for you?
Design is so so interesting to me. I have made quite a few pieces for myself, and I love to take clothing I have thrifted and give them a little “face lift” adding some beading, lace or fringe, but I do not see a career path in design. It’s definitely fun to create my own things but I am not confident in my design abilities by any means.

Your website and social media sites, namely Instagram, are very aesthetically pleasing with a common color scheme.  What is your inspiration for the look of your media presence?
I think my ethnicity has to do with my aesthetic. I’m 100% Greek, growing up I would spend my summers in the house my grandmother grew up in. It’s a little island that is so amazingly beautiful I have always held it so close to me. I think the reason you see so much white and pastel on my feed stems from that. I love everything about that home so I think it definitely carries into the way I dress and perceive things.

Your travel destinations seem to be strongly tied to your artistic sense.  What is your favorite place you’ve traveled thus far?  The most inspiring?
My wanderlust sometimes gets out of hand but I am always wanting to collect new moments and memories. I think by far the most inspiring place I have been to has to be Australia. I have a lot of family in Melbourne so it was amazing to spend time with them and have my own tour guide. My favorite place has to be a tie between Palm Springs and Phoenix, I just thrive in the desert. The hotter the better!

You have very credible internship experience in the fashion industry (BCBG, Cejon Accessories for Steve Madden).  What is the biggest takeaway you gained from these internships?
Both of these internships were very important to me. They were my first roles in the fashion industry, so I learned so much about myself while in these positions. The biggest thing I took away from them was that this is not going to be an easy road. The fashion industry requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and a little tough skin.

Tell me a little bit about your collaborations. Are the connections made through social media, local interactions in your hometown, or otherwise? Your favorite collaboration?
My collaborations have been the most exciting part of starting a blog. It still gets exciting when a brand will reach out to you to work together! Majority of my connections are made through Instagram, and then my website. I have worked with brands like VSPINK, triangl swim (my personal favorite), and local brands like Blair Ritchey and Badass Tees.

Who is your biggest celebrity style inspiration and why?
This is the hardest question. I get the majority of my inspiration from Pinterest, but my blogger obsessions right now are Happily Grey, Sonya Esman, and the brand Chloe. I really love that free spirit boho girly look.

What is one wardrobe essential you can’t live without?
I cannot live without my black leather moto jacket from Urban Outfitters. I’ve had it for like 3 years and I wear it all year round; it’s my obsession.

What are your future plans, specifically in the fashion industry?
This point in my career has been the hardest but most important. I moved back to Cleveland from New York City and felt so lost. It was a major learning year for me, but I started my blog and I would love to continue it. My dream job right now would be to work in branding and social media. I definitely see myself out west so I am looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for me!

What is your biggest piece of advice for aspiring fashion bloggers?

Absolutely don’t give up! Stay true to who you are, it’s an easy place to get lost and self-conscious. Ignore the people who have an opinion and at the end of the day just have fun. It has been a whirlwind of an experience and I do not regret taking the leap one bit.
