There are numerous ways a person can add cheese to his diet. Be careful as cheese, on the one hand, is rich in saturated fats, and on the other hand, it is loaded with calories.

4.     Full Fat Dairy

Full-fat dairy products are full of healthy saturated fats. It is good for fertility and pregnancy as these, in addition to healthy fats, are also rich sources of fat-soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A, E, D K, and K2. The findings of a Harvard Study show that those women who are in the habit of taking full-fat dairy faceless ovulation complications as compared to those who habitually take low fat or skimmed milk and other dairy products.

Common examples of full-fat dairy items are whole milk, cheese, and cream. Women who take skimmed should switch to whole-fat dairy milk and whole dairy products.

5.     Oysters

These are nutritious and again wonderful food sources to boost fertility for your fertility diet. These are packed with all nutrients that are fertility boosters. Taking about six oysters provides about 139 calories and provides tremendous amounts of nutrients and minerals with such a low-calorie count. Taking about six oysters provides zinc, selenium, vitamin B12, and iron more than that of the daily requirement. Raw or baked, you may take it any form as you desire.

6.     Pineapple

It is a delicious fruit, which can help to boost fertility. Consuming about a cup of pineapple provides about 46% of the daily required amount of Vitamin C. Furthermore, studies have shown that consistently consuming pineapple for five days after ovulation can help in successful embryo implantation.

Bromelain is a natural enzyme found in pineapples, and it has anti-inflammatory and anti-coagulation properties. A high degree of inflammation in the body suppresses the natural ovulation process. Consuming pineapples helps to counteract this issue.

Cliche Mag: What was your inspiration for “Your Inner Fat Girl”?

Natalie Taste: My inspiration for YIFG is myself; from the colors, interests, mood and attitude of the brand is my personality. I’m a “twenty something girl,” who loves to dine out, get cute for brunch and hang out with her girlfriends with no regrets! What young lady can’t relate to that? When my audience sees YIFG, they see themselves, their best friend. That’s why it works! 

What does your slogan, “Fat Girls Taste Better”, mean to you?

Fat Girls Taste Better to me means; “the young women who are unapologetic about their actions reign higher.” The slogan is often pinned to food, but I see it in many aspects of life.

How has your experience in New Orleans changed as you’ve explored its culinary world?  

My respect for the head chefs has grown significantly! After college, I worked in a 5-star  restaurant for a couple months where I was able to witness an interesting dynamic. I’m thankful for the experience because it was a take on the chefs, I never grasped being on the other side of the table. The head chefs are like the star of the show.

Where should the first meal be had on a trip to New Orleans?

Neyows Creole Cuisine where you must order chargrilled oysters as your starter, a fried seafood platter as the entree, and the restaurant’s signature “BOW WOW” cocktail. You’ll have no regrets!

What obstacles have you faced as a rising business woman in the industry? 

As a rising business woman, I struggle with balancing YIFG, my career goals, and personal life.  At times they overlap, which I once found beneficial. Now it seems like when I’m excelling in one or two fields, I’m neglecting the other. It’s an obstacle I’m still learning how to juggle.  

What do you hope to give back to your community through YIFG?

An opportunity for local up and coming chefs, restaurateurs, and recipe makers to showcase his or her take on what makes New Orleans food culture special outside of what the tourists witness. 

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in today’s world?

I’m a strong believer of the saying, “slow and steady wins the race”. Take your time! My advice is to plan, organize & execute all projects no matter the size of the outcome. I also encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to alter their perspective when thinking about their competition. Instead of being discouraged by someone “doing the same thing” as you, network with them & use them as a source. 

What new directions are you, or hope to be, taking YIFG?

I want to develop into apparel design collaborations. I think my brand is funky and bold enough for a designer to have fun with. If YIFG merch could stand as its own entity, I would feel accomplished. 

What are you excited for with YIFG in the coming years?

I’m excited for the YIFG to scale up. There’s much opportunity in the world leaving options endless. I’m ready for wherever YIFG takes me.

From MasterChef Top 3 Finalist To Graduate Harvard, Nick DiGiovanni Talks Life After

Nick DiGiovanni was the youngest person to ever compete and make it to the finals of MasterChef. He was the third finalist of this season MasterChef’s competition and life as you has never been the same. Even though he was competing on the show, he was also attending Harvard university and now he is officially a college graduate. While studying in school, DiGiovanni helped his college professor with started up a vegetable-based pastas company called Voodles. Now after competing on MasterChef, starting this journey with Voodles, Nick DiGiovanni tell Cliché how he is pursuing his dreams and more. 

Cliche : How do you balance being an entrepreneur at such a young age?

This is the perfect time in life to chase down all the dreams you have, and I’ve always wanted to start a successful food product that ends up on shelves all across the country. At the same time, I’m fortunate to have lots of support from friends and family…need as much guidance as I can get here. I’m figuring things out as I go, and it’s a fun journey.

What was your favorite moment being on MasterChef?

Cooking in the finale. Indescribable, really. It was a level above any previous challenge in the MasterChef kitchen and it was just a lot to take in, but a really great feeling nonetheless. That was a very unforgettable moment.

What’s been the best advice you received while working on MasterChef?

Have fun. That’s all you can ever do. Nothing is going to work out if you aren’t having any fun with it, and I think I did well in the competition in part because I went in with such a carefree attitude and had such a good time doing it.  

 

How has the transition been graduating Harvard to being a cooking phenomenon?

Very surreal, to say the least. I’ve certainly taken one of the most unconventional routes possible in life, but I’m loving it, and so far, I feel that it’s working the way I want it to be—but I’ll also say that I’m constantly traveling down that next unknown path and never now what, exactly, will be on the other end. You can make calculated guesses for that sort of thing, but that’s about it. 

 

What can you tell us about your Voodles start-up company and the process behind it?

Voodles is revolutionizing the way kids eat veggies. Parents have constantly struggled to get their kids eating veggies, but the fact that we can get kids who have just started walking shoveling this pasta into their mouths tells me that we’re doing something right. We have created three flavors of a vegetable-based, dry pasta that’s organic, gluten-free, kosher, vegan, and free of the 8 major allergens. We plan on launching at the start of 2020. 

If you could go back and compete on MasterChef again, would you?

If I could do it over again, yes, I’d absolutely compete on MasterChef. But, would I do it again in the future if given the opportunity? No. I had my moments on there, and now, I want to figure out where I’ll fit into the cooking world…carve out my own niche. 

What advice would you give to aspiring chefs who want to master their culinary skills and attend college?

There’s always a way. Find a restaurant nearby and work one night a week. Utilize your dorm kitchen…have friends chip in for dinner and sharpen your skills while cooking for them. I’m a firm believer that there is always a way to do something. 

Are there any projects you are working on in addition to your start up company?

Right now, I’m taking things one day at a time. I’m committed to making Voodles a success but there are so many factors in my life right now that it’s hard to say what exactly will happen over the next couple of years!

Pumpkin Spice After Dark

Cachaça 51 is teaming up with Poor Man’s Kitchen to create their very own pumpkin-spiced drink. While the classic pumpkin-spiced latte is beloved by many during the daytime, here is the perfect cocktail for PSL lovers to enjoy after hours. Made with the Brazilian spirit Cachaça 51 and pumpkin spice syrup from Poor Man’s Kitchen, this Pumpkin Spice After Dark drink is the perfect treat after a long workday. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
• 1 cup Arabica coffee
• 1.5 oz Cachaça 51
• 1.5 oz Coffee Brandy
• 1 oz Heavy Cream
• .75 oz Poor Man’s Kitchen Pumpkin Spice Syrup

Directions:
Pour hot coffee into warmed glass until it is about 3/4 full. Add Poor Man’s Kitchen Pumpkin Spice Syrup and stir. Blend in Cachaça 51 and coffee brandy. Top with heavy cream by pouring gently over back of spoon. Serve hot.

  • 2 teaspoons harissa paste or other spicy chili sauce (like Siracha)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ – 1 ½ lbs. chicken tenders
  • 1 fresh pineapple – peeled, cut into 1½” chunks
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Toasted coconut for garnish, optional
  • Cilantro for garnish, optional
Special Equipment:
  • 16 Wooden skewers for grilling
Instructions:
  • In large shallow baking dish combine Coconut Pineapple Sparkling Ice, olive oil, harissa, salt and stir to combine. Reserve 1/3 cup marinade for basting
  • Add chicken tenders, turning to coat. Cover and let marinate in refrigerator for 2 hours
  • Meanwhile, soak 16 wooden skewers in water
  • String marinated chicken on 8 wooden skewers
  • String pineapple on remaining skewers and brush with olive oil
  • Heat grill to medium high
  • Grill chicken and pineapple on two separate parts of grill. Grill chicken for 4 – 6 minutes per side (depending on thickness and heat)
  • Remove to platter and baste with reserved marinade
  • Grill pineapple until slightly caramelized
  • Serve with cooked rice
  • Garnish with cilantro and toasted coconut if desired

Sweet Summer Drinks From graze

Graze’s Mango Coconut Freakshake

Ingredients:
● 1.5 cups coconut water
● 1 tbsp chia seeds soaked in 4 tbsps  of water
● 1 tablespoon shredded coconut
● ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
● ½ mango (frozen)
● ¼ cucumber
● Juice of 1 lime
● Juice of 1 lemon
● 4-5 ice cubes
● Toppings: coconut yogurt, graze mango coconut granola protein topper, passion fruit spread and fresh fruit

Directions:
First, blend all ingredients into your blender until smooth.  Then pour into a cup or bowl, and top with fresh fruit and graze snacks.

 

Graze’s Guilt-free Piña Colada

Ingredients:
● 1 cup coconut milk
● 1 ½ frozen banana slices
● 2 cups fresh pineapple chunks
● ½ cup coconut water
● 1 tbsp coconut oil
● 1 tbsp honey
● 1.5 oz rum
● ½ cup ice (optional)

Directions:
Blend above ingredients and top with graze’s summertime punch featuring shredded coconut, dried pineapple, and delicious goldenberries.

Tatiana in Wonderland: James Beard House

An evening of fine dining took place at the James Beard House this month with Le Malt’s Spring plates on the menu. Selected by members of the James Beard Foundation, the New Jersey spirit and wine lounge was chosen to hold an exclusive “Malt Luxury” dinner with their Executive Chef Duke Estime leading the kitchen.

I arrived at the Beard House a little before seven and met with the ladies from Diaz Schloss Communications. I always have a great time at Diaz Schloss events and love catching up with their team. The weather for the night said there was a slight chance of showers, but we were rain free and enjoyed the warmer weather. We started the dinner by sipping on drinks made with Mezcal Joven and Glenfiddich in the garden with the other guests. I preferred the Glenfiddich drink over the Mezcal since I’m not too crazy about the smoky taste of Mezcal. I loved that inside each drink was an ice cube made with a hibiscus petal frozen inside, it looked so pretty. Since Le Malt is known for their spirits, it was only necessary to have each course paired with the perfect drink.
Haitian Djon Djon Risotto with Wild Mushrooms
Dinner started with a Chilean Sea Bass Broth made with spinach, basil, and cilantro. The warm broth had a slight spice that brought out the flavors of the delicate fish. It paired nicely with the glass of Castello Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio 2013, a great way to cleanse our palettes from the light course. Following the broth, we were served a Haitian Djon Djon Risotto with Wild Mushrooms. The impeccable (and my favorite) plate of the evening reminded me of comfort food: warm and soft; you want to eat it slowly and enjoy every last bite. The vegetarian plate was paired with a glass of Tinazzi Amarone della Valpolicella 2010.
We then moved on to the main courses: Berkshire Pork Belly with Tubers and Denver Venison Chops with Yellow Beans and Polenta. For extra flavor, the fatty pork belly was braised in bourbon which complimented the light sweetness of the plate and was served with Michter’s US-1 Small Batch Bourbon Whisky. The scotch-infused venison was a bit gamey for my taste, but I did enjoy the soft polenta and beans. It was served with a glass of Balvenie DoubleWood 17-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Molten Chocolate Cake
We barely had room for dessert, but how could we resist when they brought out a Molten Chocolate Cake topped with Iranian pistachio ice cream; a type of ice cream I have never had before. The presentation of the fine dessert tasted as good as it looked: rich and sweet. The cake was served with a glass of Hennessy VSOP Privilege Cognac NV. The Le Malt Team hosted a lovely dinner, and it was a great experience and honor to dine at the James beard House.
