After a one year gap in content, Betta Lemme releases new single ‘I’m Bored’, a departure from her past work into new sonic energy. The European artist sings in three languages, English, French, and Italian, as she echoes tones from the 60’s and the 90’s with other inspiration from David Bowie, Missy Elliot, and Burt Bacharach.
Lemme’s dreams were shot down at an early age, but after a chance decision to move to New York City, she released ‘Bambola‘. Her hit single was her breakthrough, and she signed to Ultra Music. Now the singer works full time on her dreams as she completes a full-length debut. Her music takes on elaborate dream-worlds like Tarantino fight scenes. “I’m just creating, creating, creating.” Lemme says. “I’m taking my time with everything because I don’t want to ever come out with cheap sounds – I want to come out with beautiful songs for you to dance or cry to.”
Celebrating the release of ‘I’m Bored’, out today, Lemme shares, “I wrote this song as a joke but then real life became a joke and as a result, I felt the song had to become real. The world has been turned upside-down. Some are taking it worse than others, some are on the front lines, but for the most part I feel lucky that I have the ability to stay home and be bored because right now being bored is an absolute privilege. I’m choosing to see the glass half full while being fortunate enough to do my civic duty in pajamas.”
Amidst an upside-down world, the singer gives us a new bop to dance to as we wait out the hard times. Stream her tracks as she sets the stage for a new brand of music.
