Dream Pop Band Mummy Diamonds Release New Track “One More Chance”

by

Mummy Diamonds latest release “One More Chance” is a haunting 80’s new-wave inspired project that touches on troublesome personalities, the addiction to drama and how sometimes we find ourselves being the motivator of the toxicity.

When discussing the concept behind “One More Chance,” James and Shanna Stein of Mummy Diamonds share:

“The first lyric that we wrote for it was ‘beg for the fire…’ It’s meant to be about that person who is always wanting drama, or creating chaos. That person who’s addicted to friction and neither of us can stand that personality, and maybe sometimes it’s one of us!” – James Stein, Mummy Diamonds

Mummy Diamonds also created the track aware that fans would relate to “One More Chance” in many different ways:

A lot of people these days are grappling with whether to persevere or jump ship, to burn it down or repair it. Just like them we’ve gone through these things. ‘One More Chance’ is personal, but at the end of the day it kind of doesn’t matter. It’s art. When you make music, people are going to relate to it however they wish” – Shanna Stein, Mummy Diamonds

Formed and based in Los Angeles, Mummy Diamonds is James Stein and Shanna Stein. MD was formed during a week-long getaway when their good friend and collaborator Zachary Busby was traveling from Delaware. As lifetime artists of various mediums, James and Shanna were embarking on a fresh musical start. They had begun writing and recording all new material unexpectedly congruent with that fateful visit from Zachary.

Maintaining yet building upon signature stylistic elements from James and Shanna’s past musical endeavors, MD represents artistic evolution. Blending a unique combination of musical elements from genres such as alternative, dream pop, island and folk combined with cinematic inspired haunting vocals and harmonies, Mummy Diamonds’ music is acoustic-based with wavy space synths, romantic guitars and grimy bass and drums. MD creates an oceanic vibe that can evoke a kaleidoscope of emotions for the listener. An empathic, spiritual vibe for all moods from romantic to introspective, sexy to macabre, Mummy Diamonds’s music always still somehow manages to uplift and remain life-affirming and hopeful.

An Interview With Pop Songstress Lisey Tigra and Her New Single, “Criminal Mind”

by

Hailing from London is Lisey Tigra: your not-so-typical cookie-cutter pop star. With an angelic voice against dark pop fantasies – Lisey’s music takes you through a ride of introspective emotions and deep lyricism. Her sound is meticulously crafted with inspiration that draws from 90s club music to R&B and punk. Her most iconic release to date, “Criminal Mind,” is an enchanting pop track that radiates confidence.

We had the chance to catch up with Lisey Tigra to discuss all things “Criminal Mind” and her upcoming EP Crime Scene

Q: What’s the story behind “Criminal Mind”?

Lisey Tigra: I wrote ‘Criminal Mind’ when I was twisted over a guy and I was finding it really hard to get over him. Then one day I had a realization that I didn’t actually want to be with him, I wanted to be him. He had certain qualities of courage, bravery, and strength to walk his own path that I felt like I was lacking at the time. Those qualities inspired me in a way that felt like love but in reality, it was admiration – I wanted to embody those qualities that I  saw in him. That’s what I mean when I sing ‘I want your criminal mind to be mine’. Once I  managed to become more courageous, strong, and brave in my own life I was instantly over him because I became whole on my own. There was no void left for him to fill.

Q: What do you hope fans get out of “Criminal Mind”?

LT: My hope is that when people listen to this track they feel empowered to become the person they want to be. Also to realize they can embody whatever qualities they desire to have and become whole within themselves. Most of the time we are projecting onto other people and latching on to things that represent what we feel like we are lacking. Once we make ourselves whole we can truly love from a place of actual love rather than from our ego.

Q: What has been your favorite reaction to the new single?

LT: My favourite reactions have been to the music video which has been described as an ‘enchanting, awe-inspiring piece of audiovisual art’. It is definitely my proudest  moment yet.

Q: You’re coming out with your first EP soon. What sounds can we expect from this release?

LT: So this is actually the last single from my first EP Crime Scene which I’ve been releasing single by single over the last year. It includes “Maybe It’s Worth It”, “Deceive Me”,  “Crime Scene” and “Criminal Mind”. In a few weeks, the full EP will be released with an extended version of ‘Maybe It’s Worth It’, and remixes of “Crime Scene” and “Criminal Mind”.

Q: You’re a big feminist advocate. How have you used your music/platform to lift female voices?

LT: My music is written to empower and inspire the young generation to be strong-minded, independent women. I write about certain struggles we face as women in society and certain emotional ‘traps’ that we sometimes fall into, and try to unpack them in a way that other girls can become aware of them. I have many conversations in my DMs with girls that relate to my lyrics and we have long, insightful discussions into why we are sometimes driven to have certain patterns of thought caused by guilt and unworthiness  — things that we have been conditioned to constantly feel by society. I learn so much from hearing other women’s experiences and it inspires me to write even more.

Q: Who would be your dream collaboration?

LT: Rina Sawayama. I’m obsessed with her.

Q: What are you most looking forward to as we transition into a post-pandemic world?

LT: Live shows! I can’t wait to play live again. I will announce some shows really soon.

Take a listen to “Criminal Mind” below, and be sure to follow Lisey Tigra on her official Instagram.

Brittan Smith Explores The Feelings of Coming Out With New Video For “Peach”

by

Emerging pop artist Brittan Smith is introducing audiences to another chapter of the Going Rogue universe. Following the release of “Fiend,”, Brittan Smith is back with the music video for his latest single, “Peach.” The video for “Peach,” directed by Heather Ballish and Brittan Smith, is a visual representation of the different emotions felt when putting on a facade of being happy to the outside world, but feeling alone on the inside. For Brittan, the video is a reflection of his personal journey as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and the headspace he was in before coming out:

“The Peach cinematic explores a fantasy universe inside the head of a solemn, pre-out of the closet version of me. The pre-out version of me pops soma, a euphoric drug reference to Brave New World, in order to escape into this flower field with a very lively version of myself that doesn’t feel quite right. One that is euphorically happy to a level of being almost creepy.

As the video progresses we see this internal storyline begin to fragment as the fantasy world cannot remain intact as my waking life remains in disarray. This all comes to a head as different glitches appear in the video including a Rabbit headed mascot, glittering banana and a true depiction of how I feel confident: me in all black wearing looking directly into camera knowingly telling myself to take the leap. On the surface, the video is fun, playful and full of effects so there is broader appeal for those who don’t want to dive too deep into the metaphor.” – Brittan Smith

Emerging from the prairie lands of Kansas with an avant-garde, rockeresque – pop sound Brittan Smith, now a Los Angeles based musician, is crafting dramatic musical worlds bathed in neon. A vocalist from a young age, Brittan turned to his mother in the car one day while jamming out to Bon Jovi and said “I’m going to be a rockstar.” He has been on that artistic path ever since. With inspiration from artists such as Lady Gaga and Chester Bennington, Brittan Smith began to craft his sound while maintaining a message of embracing all the things that make you unique.

Growing up in the Midwest had its challenges – Brittan being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and someone who deeply struggled with depression and anxiety faced hardships like much of the youth of his generation did. With this, Brittan chose to fuel his art and focus on expressing the different ways music can be used to connect people. His first release Tension was in 2018 and since then he has continued to cement his sound while also delivering stunning visuals. His most recent releases – Eyes On The Road” and Cyborg – have garnered over 35k streams collectively.

Brittan Smith is ready to amplify his message and filmmaking background with his forthcoming EP Going Rogue set for release later this year. He intends to introduce his audience to an entire alternate universe with interconnection between videos, song themes and future albums.Brittan Smith’s Going Rogue EP is set for release later this year with singles “Fiend” and “Peach” available to stream on all DSPs. Emerging Alt Pop Artist Violette Releases Electric New Single “Stop”

by

Fans can have a glimpse into what’s to come for Violette with her new synth pop track “Stop,” which premiered exclusively on Global Money World. What originally started as an experiment, “Stop” would go on to become the first single off her forthcoming debut EP, In her beauty lies my death and my life, which is set for release on August 13, 2021. Violette describes the track as the song that sets up the rest of the EP and its storytelling:

“It started as an experiment, just making different sounds with my rings tapping a wine glass and random guitar noises. It was through this song that we figured out what the EP was going to be about, both sonically, lyrically, and narratively

“I wanted to be able to put my diary out there without being so explicit and really tell different stories and put you in different places and different moods without having it explicitly say ‘This is the situation,’ but to kinda paint more of a picture and put you in a world.” – Violette

Creating innovative music that tells a timeless story is a difficult feat, but for Violette, the ability to harness both originality and universality is the underlying strength that defines her artistry. After a successful chapter of her career as a rock-pop front woman, Violette is stepping into the spotlight of her own stage, opening the curtains to reveal a solo project that is a bright reinvigoration of her past achievements. A force that is as bold and brave as it is alluring and enchanting, the Baltimore-based singer/songwriter has cultivated an inspired, anthemic sound that captures a rare balance of daring fearlessness and refined sensibility, savoring strongly of a woman of perceptiveness who has much to say, and a world that is eager to listen.

Violette’s debut EP, In her beauty lies my death and my life, is set to release August 13th of this year. The EP’s leading single “Stop” is now available to stream on all DSPs.

Prinze George’s “Off My Ass” Is A Reflection Of Loss, Grief, And Finding Yourself Amongst Darkness

by

Alt-pop group Prinze George releases Off My Ass on all DSPs today after premiering the track on American Songwriter’s Bringing It Backwards podcast. “Off My Ass” is the interpersonal journey of vocalist Naomi Almiquist, navigating her life amidst sudden loss, moving to Los Angeles, and the unfulfilled lows of the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the words of a friend and an art installation about the San Andreas Fault, “find balance during unstable periods, turn fears into meditations, and remember the earth shouldn’t move you; you should move with it” – Naomi was fueled with inspiration to pen her personal struggles in song.

The track reflects a turning point for Naomi Almquist. The ending lyric “But I am sunshine in the rain,” tributes to Naomi’s self-realization to love herself unconditionally.

Off My Ass is really the first hug I have ever given myself through my work. I am a deep feeling person and become very angry/explosive when I am hurting. I make mistakes. I don’t know how to lie about how I feel. No matter how awful I’ve been to other people in moments of weakness, I have always been, without a shadow of a doubt, the absolute hardest on myself.

Writing ‘Off My Ass’ has taught me how to be wiser, calmer and kinder to myself. Which in turn has made me more open/kind to the people around me, because that’s how love works. No matter how significant or insignificant other people decide it is, I will always think of this song as the one that really saved me.” – Naomi Almquist of Prinze George

Inspired by their hometown roots of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Prinze George is an American Alternative Pop band formed by life-long partners Kenny Grimm (Producer) and Naomi Almquist (Vocalist) in 2013. Soon after, the two recruited then-student Isabelle De Leon (Drummer) while at college. Influenced by a wide array of genres – from folk to electronica to R&B – Prinze George’s music takes the listener on an emotional, introspective journey. With strong harmonics rooted in live instrumentation, danceable grooves in the outer layer of their discography, and themes of love, friendship, loss and perseverance – Prinze George is emerging and transcending across radars, giving a fresh perspective to the pop genre lyrically and sonically.

Following the release of their self-titled EP Prinze George, the band went on tour with Albert Hammond Jr as direct support in 2015. Bolstering their growing reputation, they dropped their debut album, Illiterate Synth Pop, in 2016 and joined Lewis Del Mar on his North American Tour. After impressing fans at festivals like Austin City Limits, Eaux Claires, and Firefly with their nostalgic, synth-soaked sound, innovative and distinctive lyrics, and mesmerizing, gripping performances, the band released their last EP, Airborne in 2018. Around the same time, Naomi and Kenny were given the opportunity to write songs for actor/director Til Schweiger’s film “Head Full of Honey” in Europe. They continued to expand their loyal following and break genre barriers thanks to a string of collaborations in 2019 with some of the industry’s top artists like Carnage, Diplo, G-Eazy & Wiz Khalifa (“Slot Machine,” “Letting People Go” & “Wait For Me”). Their latest EP effort, Happy Garden, dropped March 26th of this year, featuring singles “Garden in the Sky,” “Taller,” and “Centuries.”
