Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle Enjoy a Royal Train Ride

June 14th, 2018: Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle Enjoy a Royal Train Ride on Their Journey to Cheshire.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, spent the day out June 14th with Queen Elizabeth. Apparently, this was their first outing alone together since Markle married Prince Harry and assumed her place in the British royal family. On their first outing together, the Queen and the Duchess of Sussex boarded a train from London to Cheshire. The event in all accounts is rather a big deal, considering that none of Markle’s generation in the royal family have ever travelled by train with the Queen. Photographed outside of the train,  Queen Elizabeth dons a light green coat and hat and the Duchess of Sussex looks respectably demure in a neutral-toned dress. Oh, to be the granddaughter-in-law of the Queen!

Imagining how luxurious the royal train ride was? As expected, the Queen’s train is more than comfortable, containing dining areas, sleeping quarters, a study, and quarters for the royal staff. In addition, it wouldn’t be a royal outing with the protection officers on hand, so they have their own quarters as well. One can only imagine that Queen Elizabeth’s personal quarters are spacious and refined. The Queen’s saloon includes a bedroom, a sitting room, and a full-size bathroom.

Kate Middleton’s Best Looks

Including giving birth, The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton manages to look flawless on every occasion. We adore the Royal’s sense of style so much we decided to pick out some of Kate Middleton’s best looks!

Simple yet classy: Kate looked stunning wearing this velvet Alexander McQueen gown at the The Sun‘s Military Awards in London alongside her husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry.

You can never go wrong with floral, as Kate proved here when she was pictured in a Jenny Packham dress at a match at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club. We love the contrast in light, summery colours between the dress and the L.K. Bennett shoes.

Royal blue: Kate debuted this lace Erdem dress and L. K. Bennett shoes at a morning service aboard the HMCS Montreal in Champlain Harbor in Quebec. The bold blue is a very flattering color for The Duchess, and she is quite clearly fond of it as she wears it rather often!

Kate looked so elegant in her white Reiss dress, pictured teamed with a Sylvia Fletcher at Lock and Co. hat, which she wore to the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineu, Quebec.

And of course, who could forget this? Kate looked nothing but flawless in her Alexander McQueen wedding gown. At an impressive 9-foot long train, Kate was the perfect bride in her classic white lace dress at her wedding which took place in London on the 29th April, 2011.

British vs. American Style

As a British girl who has visited The States a number of times, I’ve noticed just how different American style compares to ours. From overalls to plaid shirts, leather jackets to brogues, here’s my lowdown on how British style contrasts to our friends across the pond.
British Casual:

  • Overalls

I don’t know about other Brits, but I LOVE dungarees (overalls). When I visited America, my friends were surprised to see me wear them. What isn’t to love about overalls?! They’re comfy, cute, and they go with just about anything! Band t-shirts in particular are my favourite item to pair them with. You can find these on topshop.com.

  •    Pinafores

Similar to overalls, pinafores are another popular trend among Britons. Especially cute with knee high socks, pinafores are eligible to wear all year round, particularly floral patterned ones in Spring! www.lyst.com

  • Brogues

Brogues are my all time favourite shoe. Not only can you wear them during the day with a cute smock dress or the overalls I mentioned earlier, but you could rock a pair of T-bar flats with a smart/casual dress for a night out on the town or a fancy meal! topshop.com

  • Peter Pan collars

A favourite of mine, peter pan collars on t shirts, dresses or playsuits automatically make any outfit look adorable. Adding an element of class, collar dresses are perfect to wear during the summer to achieve that cute ‘girl next door’ look. misselfridge.com
American Casual:

  • Denim

This is probably the fashion item I saw people wear the most, especially jackets! Denim is a great fashion accessory any can make any statement look casual. asos.com

  • Plaid Shirts

Plaid checkered shirts teamed with denim shorts was a very popular choice of outfit I soon discovered when I visited the states. topshop.com

  • Leather jackets

Another popular fashion choice in the USA, especially to parties, the leather jacket can be combined with a pair of skinny jeans or denim shorts to create that edgy biker look. topshop.com

  • College Sweaters

This may be stereotypical, but the amount of people I saw wearing university pullovers was unbelievable! In the UK, we don’t very often sell jumpers (sweatshirts) for our university’s, so it is rare to see someone wearing one. As a Brit, I love it! I think they give off the coolest vintage vibe. It’s great to be able to represent your university and be proud of it! polyvore.com

For those who missed it, the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) happened over the weekend at the Royal Opera House in London. And although our favorites were recognized for their acting achievements this past year (like Eddie Redmayne, winning Best Actor again for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything), it was the fashion that seriously caught our eyes!
Keira Knightley stuns yet again in a black and cream feathery Giambattista Valli dress, Laura Haddock in a gorgeous Ashli Couture ball gown, and Douglas Booth in a green Dunhill suit jacket. See more of our favorites below!

When in Rome

British rockers, Muse, are slated to release a full length concert DVD.The band is currently in the very early stages of a new album but in the mean time are gearing up for  the DVD release. According to singer Matt Bellamy, “It’s gonna come out in 4K, which is the highest resolution concert ever shot. It’s four times more powerful than HD, so it’s like ridiculous detail. When you see the concert being filmed, you can see all the crowd, you can see their faces being filmed.”

Muse fans should keep an eye out for an official release date.
