If there’s anything we love more than dressing up for Halloween, it’s seeing who or what our favorite celebrities dress up as. For Halloween this year, we’ve seen our favorite celebrities dress up as their favorite icons (Karlie Kloss as Marilyn Monroe), movie characters (Jessica Alba as Juno), and supervillains (Rita Ora as Poison Ivy). It’s also the perfect time to dress up as your favorite Stranger Things character, complete with a box of Eggo waffles (we’re looking at you, Wells Adams), since Season 2 was recently released on Netflix. Whether you’re dressing up this year or staying in, you won’t want to miss some of our favorite celebrity Halloween costumes of 2017.
If you binge-watch television shows like it’s nobody’s business, then the annual Primetime Emmy Awards Ceremony is like your Super Bowl. TV’s biggest stars gathered yet again for the 69th year to honor and celebrate some of the most stellar performances we have ever seen in television history. And while we were certainly eager to watch this year’s host, Stephen Colbert, tell just about a dozen Donald Trump jokes (how great was that opening monologue, though?), we were even more excited to see what our favorite actors were wearing on the red carpet.
Chances are that the thought of shaving your head and rocking a buzz cut trips an anxiety wire in your brain. Or…is that just me? The thought of revealing to the world my unusually round, pale head is nothing short of my own personal nightmare. If you told me five years ago that the female buzz cut would enter the mainstream in 2017, I’d have told you to get outta town. But here we are in 2017, which will likely be known to our children as “The Year of the Buzzcut,” and I’m totally here for it.
Let’s be honest: every day should be Mother’s Day. Mothers should be celebrated for all that they do. However, with no disrespect to my mom at all (sorry in advance, Ma!), there are just some families I wish I could be adopted into. I can’t be the only one; I see all the fans out there who comment “MOM” on a photo or tweet to their favorite celeb. I think it’s safe to assume that there are just some lives we want to be part of even if it’s 100% not possible.
Last night, Anna Wintour hosted what is pretty much know as Hollywood’s annual prom: the Met Gala. While this event is meant to help raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, it is also the perfect chance for our favorite celebrities to take major, artful fashion risks. As our favorite celebrities dragged heavy trains, sequined gowns, and billowing ball gowns up the iconic steps, we watched on Twitter in awe. This year, the event honored Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo with an exhibition entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” And Hollywood’s biggest stars did not disappoint.
Celebrities: they’re just like us! Well, kind of. Everyone cringes a little bit when forced to look at pictures from junior high that are chock-full of overly-plucked brows, poorly straightened hair, and foundation two shades too dark. Lucky for us, nobody can Google those images. But perhaps unluckily for celebrities, we can Google their junior high images! Beauty transformations are so fascinating, always reflecting a shift in age, a shift in style, or a shift in colloquial beauty trends. Here are six celebrities who have gone through beauty transformations, big or small, and are looking better than ever today!
Each year, the biggest night in Hollywood, the annual Academy Awards, is sure to bring many things: touching speeches, special moments, and the chicest fashion. The 89th annual awards ceremony was no exception. This year’s most celebrated celebrities absolutely killed it on the red carpet. There were white floor-length dresses (Priyanka Chopra, Sofia Carson); gold, glittering gowns (Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman); and sleek, black dresses (Taraji P. Henson, Brie Larson) that won our hearts. Standouts also included Emma Roberts in black and white vintage Armani Privé, Octavia Spencer in Marchesa, and Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph & Russo.
Last night, NYU’s Skirball Center was flooded with fans of the HBO series Girls as the cast of the show took to the stage to bid farewell ahead of its final season. We were there, too–second row and trying not to cry. Sorry, sometimes the inner fan-girl tries to break through.
Award season continued last night with the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guide Awards, and so did another glamorous red carpet. Between the pre-show coverage to the acceptance speeches, we couldn’t take our eyes off our favorite celebrities’ stunning outfits. We saw tons of different styles from tea-length dresses to floor-length gowns to pantsuits and a rainbow of different colors, like blush pink and white and velvety blue. Some celebrities wore sleek black gowns with some extra sparkle (Kate Hudson, Mayim Bialik, Jessica Pimentel) while others went the full-on colorful route (Michelle Dockery and Yara Shahidi). Either way, one thing’s for sure: our favorite celebrities didn’t disappoint!
Each year, the Emmys brings the world’s biggest television stars together for a night of celebration, achievements, and laughter. In addition, we can always expect the biggest fashion. From gorgeous gowns to skin-tight dresses, our favorite celebrities did not disappoint on the Emmys red carpet. While trending colors of the night were red, white, and black, there were also pops of yellow, blue, and green.
We all know festivals are about so much more than the legendary music performances. The real entertainment is among the crowd, which turns out to be its own fashion show filled with crop top-clad celebrities and style gurus sashaying about in the world’s best Instagram sceneries.
Tonight was the night — the “Oscars of Music,” according to Ludacris. Okay, it’s really not equivalent to that since that’s what the Grammys are for… But I digress. The Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) honors the top trending artists today. You may know some of the familiar names that you’ve heard on your local radio stations… Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Adele, The Weeknd, just to name a few.
