To have healthy hair is imperative that you ensure the usage of good products. Sometimes quality and price are connected but, nowadays there are cheaper options without losing the quality of the product itself. Since each hair type varies, it is crucial to understand what your hair requires, and which products are your best allies.  Here are a few tips for healthy hair, a brighter shinny hair thats smoother than a well-groomed horse’s mane.

Moisturization is the key to a healthy scalp

Most of the hair issues arise as a problem in your daily life due to one big reason: poor hair care. Using a good shampoo and conditioner will help your locks having a balanced moisture. After a few washes you will notice that your hair is healthier and not so dry. Though, don’t forget the golden rule of a healthy scalp: do not over wash your mane.

This behavior can provoke in your hair lack of natural oils, making it dull and lifeless. Twice a week is the average advised number of cleaning you should apply to your hair. Suitable shampoos for normal hair type are what most of the people use during this season, since the air is more humid.

Reversing the hair routine

Using the shampoo first and applying the conditioner after might, sometimes, weight your hair down. If this is a problem you have been noticing and facing, don’t be afraid to experiment reversing the process. First apply the conditioner and then the shampoo. The conditioner will add volume and boost the hair while the shampoo cleanses it.

‘New hair, don’t care’

For a brand-new change to the forthcoming season, why don’t you get a new hair cut? Check out the trending styles and choose your Spring look. A good trim eliminates dead and split ends, making your hair bouncy. By the end, your hair will look fresh, healthy and alive.

Give it a new color

If you like to take risks when it comes to your look, change your hair color. With so many brands and shades of color these days, you may choose among this wide range anytime you wish. Dyed hairs last longer if you use the right shampoo and conditioner to keep the shade intact. Consider going for a regular touch-up to keep the color for a longer period.

Avoid hair styling tools

Enjoy the flow of the season and go easy on the curlers, hair straighteners and crimpers. Hot hair styling products are good for special occasions, but not healthy to your daily life routine. The constant shock of the heart can damage your mane and eliminate the natural moisture of it. After washing your scalp, run your fingers through your locks and allow it to dry naturally for smoother hair. For your natural curls, braid small segments after the hair wash, while it is still damp and dry it naturally. When removing the braids, you will have loose and more natural curls.

Use hair masks to highlight your color

Soaking chamomile overnight in water is an option to a natural homemade hair mask. In the next morning of preparing the solution, strain the chamomile out and infuse your hair with the water. Add some drops of lemon juice and go get some sun on it. The vitamin D plays a key role in activating ingredients to keep your hair healthy.

Watch your diet: ‘we are what we eat’

Watching your diet is All of your health condition is related to the lifestyle you implement. With no doubt, your hair is also linked to the way you treat yourself and to what you eat. Extremely lifeless and damaged hair might be connected to your liver. Ensure you detox your body and hair, every once in a while, for a healthy mane and growth. A cleansing mask, a good scrub or a prickly pear seed oil will work in the detox process of your hair. As for your diet, keep including vegetables, fruits and fish in your nutrition.

Snake Braid Hair Tutorial

Bored of your usual hairstyle and want to add a little bit of pizazz for the new year? Well, you’re in luck! Latest-Hairstyles.com guest contributor Jennie Kay has the perfect braid for you that’s super chic but also super easy to replicate: the snake braid. “If you can do a basic three-strand braid, you can master this chic braid in no time,” Kay says. Read on for step-by-step instructions on how to create this beautiful hairstyle!
The Snake Braid Hair Tutorial
1. Create a large diagonal forward section of hair behind your ear.
2. Split the section into three equal subsections. Apply a bit of pomade to your hand (about half the size of a dime) and smooth out each section. This will help make a smooth, clean braid. Begin braiding (a basic, three-strand braid) this section, keeping medium tension on the braid. You do not want this braid too tight or too loose.
3. Braid almost all the way down to the ends of your hair, leaving one to two inches left below where you stop the braid.
4. Take two of the sections and combine them to make one larger section (you will now only have two sections, one small and one large).
5. Take the smaller section and carefully slide it up the braid.
6. Keep sliding the smaller section up to the top of the braid.
7. Now slide the section back down to create a looser “s” pattern braid.
8. Wrap the snake braid around the back of your head and pin in place. Spray with a medium hold hairspray to add extra hold and tame any flyaways.
*TIP* Lift a small section of hair up and pin your snake braid below it. Drop the hair down so that it conceals where you pinned the braid in place.

The New Braiding Book

All out of fresh ideas on how to style your hair? Then you might want to get your hands on the New Braiding Handbook. The handy book is filled with enough creative new ways to style your hair that you will never need to revert back to your old ponytail. Each hairdo comes with easy to follow step by step tutorials, and if for some reason you are still having trouble mastering your do there are video tutorials being posted every Wednesday on Abby Smith’s youtube Channel. Here are a couple of my favorite looks I tried out.

The Alternative Braid
This is one of my favorite looks for a couple of reasons, one being that if you’re always in a rush you can pull of this flirty look in minutes. It is a great alternative to just quickly putting your hair in a ponytail or bun and it is just as fast. You can easily follow the step to step tutorial in the book or follow this video which you will also be able to find on Abby Smith’s youtube Channel.

The Fishtail Bun
The fishtail bun is a perfect look for the office and it’s very creative compared to the usual ballerina bun. I love it because it’s professional looking and well put together in the front that no one would ever expect what it looks like from behind. It all starts with two braids and from there on you are just wrapping and twisting them around until you reach the finished look.

The Waterfall Braid Updo
Whether you are going on a date night or to a cocktail party this is a great, easy to do elegant updo. You’ll never have to spend a dime getting your hair ready for a big night out but it will definitely look like you did. I tried this look out myself once. After a few attempts I finally got the look down and I was getting compliments all night.

You can find all these looks and  more in the New Braiding Handbook by Abby Smith. It will be your tool in pulling off hairstyles that you would have never thought of to attempt on your own. I would suggest you use bobby pins and scrunchies that are very close to your hair color because at times you might find yourself needing quite a few of them, especially if you have thick hair. One other thing that you should keep in mind is that you can customize any of these looks to your own personal tastes by using intricate hair accessories or by braiding in colored hair clip-ins.

Spring Hair Inspiration

Spring Hair Inspiration

Spring 2014 fashion shows have been cat-walked upon not only with jaw-dropping clothing, but must-have hairstyles as well. Versace created a fantasy come true with chic, messy-like mermaid waves, while Marc Jacobs was sure to let us know that the bob cut was still relevant. The side part, braid, and low ponytail also have made their presence known to be rocked and worn this spring. These upcoming hair trends are all about looking fresh and effortless, which is just what spring exemplifies.

The Bedhead

How could you resist these easy-to-do hairdos? They exude a just-woke-up-but-still-look-great sense that we all just love. It’s safe to say rocking the bedhead will work great with any of these styles. We can all thank Fashion Week now for putting these trends into popularity this spring. Hours in front of the mirror are long gone without a care in the world. Warmer weather calls for quicker ‘dos so we can hurry ourselves outside to enjoy these beautiful days and soak in all that long-awaited vitamin D. We’re on those carefree vibes.

The Braid

The braid isn’t something new to any of us, but it still resides as a go-to favorite when in a rush. “The messier, the better” is what makes this style popular for spring. No need to slick back those fly-aways or pull back the falling strands that made their way out of this style; let it all hang loose as if you are a hippie from the 60’s ready to enjoy festivals. You can even create these braids in your hair halfway down instead of from the top of your hair all the way to the end. This creates a much more blended style that is also more detailed in the mess of your locks.

The Side Part

Side parts have come at us with a much more edgier attitude than we remember, along with the multiple styles they were seen in. Tousled waves, pin-straight, short hair, long hair, mid-length hair—each and every one plus much more were seen with this parted trend. The side part is very diverse in the ways it can be created and can create a different look each time it’s used. You can part to the right or left with any type of textured hair, length, and cut. It has become a trend that is a compliment to wear for us all. Make it sleek, deep, messy, wet, or anything else you are in the mood for. There’s no doing wrong with this hairdo for sure!

Short Hair

Short haircuts are here once again and people who fall in love with this easy style are ready to chop off their long hair. Cutting off your length is pretty much like another aspect of spring cleaning that will have fresher hair growing again in time for fall. Short hair is a most definite not-in-your-face style that we will be sure to take advantage of with the winds of spring coming on in. Just because this length is short doesn’t mean you can’t do anything with it! Texture is a key ingredient in boosting up this little ‘do from flowing waves to sleek straight. Remember to not forget that these looks can be worn the next day as well, even if you slept on them. Day old hair is perfectly acceptable to rock with this length, giving it a more daring look.

The Mermaid

Mermaids seemed to have been a major inspiration in the style of textured waves for spring. Waves have been a familiar trend, but their natural and loose look that appeared on runways made us want to capture it for an everyday style. They are completely simple to create on your own by using a hot tool such as a curling wand or just putting braids into your hair the night before to sleep in. You can brush them out with a comb or paddle brush to create the almost-gone waves seen in the fashion shows. They’ll make it seem as if your hair was styled like that naturally ever since you were a child. It can easily be worn the next day as well and the day after that and the day after that, too! It’s such a simple style that makes a fashion statement that we can never lose love for.

The Ponytail

Ponytails are in and ready to be pulled back in sleek styles that are polished and chic. Normally ponytails are thought of as the style you just throw your hair into as a last minute attempt at trying to do your hair. Now it has officially been created into an easy style that isn’t so much an I-didn’t-know-what-to-do-today look. The low ponytail is the most popular, and it can be worn in a number of options, including adding another trend to it, like the side part. You can throw it to the side, accessorize it with a headband, or even tie it up in a different way by using a detail of a gold clasp around its base. Both a day and night look can be created from this, letting you have time to work all day and play all night.
