How to Transition Your Outfit From day to Night

by

Today we want to share tips on how to transition your outfit from day to night. The pandemic restrictions have started to ease, and the nightlife scene has returned to England. We can go for after-work drinks with colleagues, clubbing with our best girlfriends or on a late-night date. As offices open back up, you may find yourself going straight from work to the club on a Friday night. You need to have a few transition outfits on standby for when your busy schedule ramps up again.

Here are a few ways you can make a seamless transition from daywear to night-time.

Wear underwear as outwear

The underwear as outerwear trend has been around for a few years now and shows no sign of slowing down. A cute lingerie set deserves to be showcased, and it can make you feel ultra-chic on a night out. Wear a cute lingerie set with a blouse and matching suit for the office. After work, head to the bar, remove the blouse in the bathroom and rock your suit with a lacy bra peeking through. If you don’t feel comfortable getting your whole midriff out, you could wear a bodysuit instead. You can feel sinched in, confident and ready to have fun.

Wear layers

Layers are the key to transition outfits. Wear a silky camisole with a blouse and jacket, or a dress and jumper combination. You can shed the thicker layers in the evening for a more revealing look – our layer them on to keep yourself warm on Autumn nights. Always have a spare top in your bag if you’re going straight from work to the bar. You might get sweaty or spill coffee down yourself. A trench coat often transitions well from day to night and can make you look pulled together.

Pack some makeup

Assorted cosmetic products

Photo by Emma Bauso on Pexels

Every woman needs an essentials kit in their handbag. Buy a small travel pouch and fill it with a concealer, powder, eyeliner, deodorant, perfume, lip balm and a few feminine products. You can touch your makeup up in the bathroom and make your look a little more dramatic for night-time. You can also make sure you feel fresh and smell good when leaving the office. Add a few extra items if you’re dressing a little fancier, such as your lipstick for the evening and emergency false lash glue.

Wear comfortable footwear

Your highest heels may look amazing, but they won’t feel amazing at the end of a long day. You are going to be in these shoes all day and night – they need to be comfortable. Opt for wedges or boots to keep your feet secure and comfortable all night long. You could wear flats for the office and bring heels in your bag to change into.

Remember to pump up your makeup, show a little more skin and enjoy your evening!

3 Iconic Becca Cosmetics Products to Stock Up On Before They Close

by

Becca Cosmetics, a cruelty free makeup brand owned by Estee Lauder and sold at Sephora and Ulta, has a cult-like following and is known for its innovative highlighters. Unfortunately, Becca Cosmetics is shutting down permanently in September, largely due to the pandemic. According to an official statement posted on their website in February: “At BECCA, an accumulation of challenges, together with the global impact of COVID-19, has sadly been more than our business can withstand, and we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to close down the BECCA brand at the end of September 2021.” However, it’s not too late to still rock a glowy face full of the brand. Here are 3 iconic Becca Cosmetics products to stock up on before they close, and dupes for when they do.

1. Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter ($38)

Perhaps the product that launched Becca into the public eye, the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter is unlike any other, because it melts down into a creamy finish once applied, despite its powdery texture. Their signature color, Champagne Pop, works great with warm or olive skin tones. Apply with a brush for the best results.

Dupe: ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter ($8)

This buttery formula is a perfect contender for The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter, because it shares the unique powder to cream texture. There are currently 17 shades on the ColourPop website, ranging from a medium brown for a contour effect to a luminous purple if you’re going for the space girl look. However, this one should be applied with the fingers for the most effective pigmentation.

2. Ultimate Lipstick Love ($24)

Coming in a whopping 40 shades, the best aspect of this product is the fact that it is one of the only lipstick shade ranges on the market that comes with an indication of its undertone (warm, cool, neutral) so you can find the perfect match for your skin. Its creamy, hydrating formula is perfect for those who suffer from dry lips. It even has a magnetic casing so you never have to worry about losing the top half of the tube!

Dupe: Clinique Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation ($20)

Coming in an impressive 30 colors, this lipstick also helps you find your perfect shade and undertone match to your skin by using Clinique Shade Match Science. It comes in three “dress codes”:  Naked, a soft, neutral sheer tint for the natural look, Casual, a step up between tame and dramatic for an everyday look, and Glam, an intense, in your face pop of colour that you can see across the room.

3. Zero No Makeup Virtual Foundation ($36)

This innovative product is so subtle that it is difficult  to argue whether or not it qualifies as makeup or skin care, with Becca claiming that it’s the perfect hybrid of the two. Its effects are so subtle that even straight cis men report wearing it without embarrassment. The blurring matte finish is perfect for those with oily skin, and only takes a pea size dollop to get the full effects!

Dupe (Kind of): Maybelline Face Studio Master Prime ($10)

Becca’s Zero No Makeup Virtual Foundation is so unique that there is simply no other product like it on the market. While there are other mattifying skin products that can give you a blurring effect and help soothe your imperfections, they’re not labeled as foundations. However, there are some lightly pigmented primers that work similarly and can be worn without foundation for a subtle effect. The Maybelline Face Studio Master helps with pore minimizing and works best for those with oily skin.

Important Makeup Tips to Consider if you Have Sensitive Skin and Eyes

by

Today we want to provide you with important makeup tips to consider if you have sensitive skin and eyes. If you ask anybody, if they have sensitive skin, they will respond with convincing “yes” or “absolutely no”. But only a dermatologist really can tell if you have sensitive skin or whether something else is causing your skin condition.

Factors that cause sensitive skin reactions include overly dry skin, allergic skin reactions, sun, wind, excessive heat, or cold and genetic factors. But sometimes makeup products may cause that problem.

For identifying signs of allergies that are causing sensitive skin dermatologists use Patch testing. The purpose of this article is to offer you tips on what to consider when purchasing makeup products, to make sure that they are not the reason of your sensitive skin and eyes, and what to do if your cosmetics make your eyes act out.

Let your skin breathe

makeup tips to consider if you have sensitive skin and eyes

Try to avoid heavy, long-wear foundations as they tend to block pores. It is best to opt for formulas that are relatively light and ‘non-comedogenic.

Pay attention to ingredients

If you have dry or irritated skin, the number one rule in deciding if the product is a good fit is to check if it contains alcohol (ethanol or ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, etc.) in the main ingredient list. You do not need extra irritation, dryness, and increased oil production.

Avoid fragranced products

Sensitive skin often reacts badly to perfumed or scented makeup products. Perfume allergies are common in those with sensitive skin and can cause redness, irritation, and rashes.

Use eye drops

If you have sensitive eyes, ask your doctor if you should use eye drops before putting on your eye makeup, as it’s usually recommended. Such eye drops will help to hydrate the eyes, while also helping with redness.

Clean your makeup brushes properly

You need to make sure to wash your makeup tools and brushes regularly so that bacteria doesn’t accumulate on them, which can cause irritation and runny eyes. Also, make sure the makeup products you use if not too old or expired.

Hypoallergenic makeup products

makeup tips to consider if you have sensitive skin and eyes

If your eyes are sensitive to traditional makeup products, it may be because they contain certain chemicals that irritate your skin and eyes. Try choosing products that are labeled as hypoallergenic. Make sure you use a hypoallergenic mascara, a gentle eyeshadow, and free of irritants eyeliner.

Use an eye primer

Before applying any eyeshadow or eye makeup, put on a primer first. It helps the makeup adhere better to the skin, so there will be less fallout, which irritates the eyes. Also, the primer will help your makeup last longer, so if there’s any tearing the makeup is more likely to stay put.

Avoid using loose powder

The powder tends to get in the eyes, causing them to tear or itch. Try not to use it and substitute it with compact powder or a finishing makeup setting spray to give your base a nice finish.

Always take off your makeup before bedtime

Lats a tip to remember: no matter how tired you are, always take off your makeup before bed and cleanse your skin very well. This habit will surely pay off in the future.

How to Elevate your Makeup to Stand Out

by

Glitter in makeup is nothing new but shows like Euphoria generated a makeup movement that encourages creativity and individuality. Doniella Davy is the makeup artists behind the show’s iconic looks. Her looks incorporate glitter, crystals, bright colors, unique eyeliner, and geometric designs. Whether you are just beginning or are more advanced, your makeup can be bold. Here are five makeup tips to elevate your everyday makeup that will make you stand out.

1. Colored Mascara

Colored Mascara is a fun way to add a pop of color to the eyes. If you want the look to be more subtle, apply the mascara only to the bottom lashes. To make the look bolder, apply mascara to both the top and bottom lashes. Colourpop sells a variety of bright colors to choose from that will make your eye color stand out.

 2. Neon Monochrome

Monochromatic looks are typical for the fall season. To elevate this classic look, try using a neon color like hot pink, coral, or red. Use the same color shade for the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Try a product like e.l.f Cosmetics Monochromatic Multi Stick. This product can be used on all areas of the face. Apply the cream-based product to the eyes, cheeks and lips, then apply a powder-based product over the eyes and cheeks to enhance the color.

3. Stenciling

Makeup stencils are a great way to create patterns and designs on your face (like a temporary tattoo). If you don’t have a makeup stencil, get out the sticker booklet! Use stickers to create the reverse effect of stencils. It’s important to first place the sticker on the back of your hand and then apply it to the area on the face you wish to pattern. This is to remove excess glue from the sticker, so there is less chance of irritation on your face. Once applied to the face, use powder, liquid or cream products and pat over the sticker. Blend and diffuse the makeup. Remove the sticker and voilà! You should be left with the sticker design framed by makeup.

4. Drawn-On Eyelashes

Drawn-on eyelashes were made popular in the 60’s by iconic mod supermodel Twiggy. She would draw eyelashes on her bottom lash line to emphasis her large doe-eyes. To get the Twiggy effect, use a black liner (liquid, gel or pencil can work) and simply draw flicked out hair-like strokes underneath your real eyelashes. The goal is to create an illusion of full bottom lashes, so the application does not need to be perfect. You can be as dramatic as you like! If you want to take this look further, take eyeliner and draw a thick black line in the crease of your eyelid. This will emphasize deep set eyelids. Finish the look with a couple coats of volumizing mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.

 5. Bleached Brows

Bleached brows became popular after being featured on the runway shows of Valentino, Prada, Givenchy, and Alexander Wang. This look is for anyone daring enough to try it! Bleached brows will highlight your eye color and emphasize your bone structure. If you’re trying to make yourself look more edgy, bleach brows will do it. But always use caution when applying strong chemicals, especially around the eye area.

How Can You Stand Out From the Crowd?

by

Today we want to share with you simple tips that can help you stand out from the crowd.  While there are times when we’re happy to just blend into the background, there are other times when we really want to stand out. There’s something pretty special about stepping out of the home knowing that we look at our best and that we’re going to be turning heads for all the right reasons. But of course, this is easier said than done. If it were so straightforward, then we’d all be doing it! The good news is that there are things you can do that can help push your look in the right direction. We take a look at some tried and tested tips below. Incorporate them into your style, and it won’t be long before you’re getting attention!

stand out from the crowd

Dress for the Occasion

You’d stand out from the crowd if you were radically underdressed for the occasion, but for all the wrong reasons. When it comes to fitting in with the dress code, most people take the “bare minimum” approach. If it’s a more formal event, then they’ll wear something that’s smart but rarely spectacular. And that’s understandable since people generally don’t want to buy new outfits just for one occasion. Still, if there’s an event you’re going to where you really want to make a splash, look at putting in a bit more effort than usual. A good idea is to look online for outfit ideas — it could be that there’s one particular style that’ll suit the event perfectly.

Be Bold

You’re not going to stand out from the crowd if you’re playing things too safe. You’ll have an acceptable appearance, but it’s not going to cause any waves. So when you want to make a splash, why not look at stepping things up a little and being bold? There are plenty of ways to do it. On a day to day basis, it’ll be your sense of style that’ll give you a bold look. It can take time to figure out what your style is, but it’s a process worth engaging in! A good way to do it is to play around with a few different styles, and then slowly put your own spin on things. In many cases, the people who stand out from the crowd aren’t the people who are simply dressed well; it’s the people who have taken the time to put together their own kind of outfit together.

Accessories and Jewelry

But it’s not as if you only have your clothes to work with! An excellent way to liven up your look is to add some accessories and jewelry to your outfit. Which exactly you choose will depend on the time of year, the event you’re dressing for, and what you’re wearing. If you’re going to add jewelry to your look, then make sure you’re getting your pieces from top-quality jewelers; they’ll help you to find beautiful pieces that really stand out from the crowd. When it comes to accessories, you can be a bit more playful. It’s one of the few areas of your outfit where you can bold without taking any risks. Colorful scarves, gloves, and funky sunglasses should all be a part of your wardrobe.

Salon Ready Hair

It is possible to do your hair well yourself, in the comfort of your own home. However, it’s also true that unless you’ve got plenty of experience, then it’s not going to be as beautiful as what a professional in a salon can do for you. Obviously, unless you’re rich and famous, it’s not as if you visit the salon every weekend. But if there are occasions when you know that you want to make waves, then look at booking an appointment. There’s just something about leaving a salon after a great treatment that has us walking on cloud nine.

Makeup Style

As well as your hair, the other big part of your overall look will be your makeup. Most people are pretty good at making themselves look presentable with their makeup, but can you step things up, and be a little bolder? If you don’t know where to start, check out some of the best YouTube makeup channels. There are many excellent tutorials that are easy to follow along! Alternatively, you can look up a professional makeup artist in your area. They can be expensive, though, so maybe only use them for the big events of the year.

New Threads

Many of us can accidentally harm our overall style by wearing old clothes. All the colors may work together well, and it may once have all worked, but if the clothes are past their best, then it’s not going to work as well as it should. Don’t underestimate the power of high-quality clothing! We know that it can sometimes be difficult to say goodbye to those old favorite items of clothing, but at some point, it just has to be done. You’ll fall in love with your new items of clothing soon enough.

stand out from the crowd

From the Ground Up

If you’re in a rush, or you’re going somewhere where you don’t really need to dress up at all, then try this trick: dress from the ground up. If you’ve got high-quality shoes and legwear on, then you can wear virtually anything you want up top and still look good. This is an effective trick because you’re able to look fantastic even when it seems as if you shouldn’t; people won’t know why they’re drawn to your style.

Social-Ready

Being social isn’t always easy, but there are some things you can do to help yourself. The first is to be well-rested. If you’re going to an event where you know you have to chat with people, then you can make things much easier for yourself by getting plenty of rest beforehand. You’ll find that you’re much more conversational and your mind is sharper and more witty when you’re rested and relaxed. It’s also important to bring plenty of energy reserves, so you don’t crash just as you’re beginning to make an impression on people at the party.

Have Fun

There are times when it pays to be mysterious and aloof. We’re thinking: when you’re in a cafe or taking a journey on a train and stuff. Then you can just gaze out deep in thought, and you’ll probably get people’s interest. But when you’re at a party, that approach won’t work — indeed, it’ll come across as boring or arrogant. People like people that have the capacity to have fun. You can still act classy and also have a great time. A confident, fun person who is dressed to the nines will always be the hit of the party!

Walk with Confidence

Finally, remember the golden rule when it comes to standing out from the crowd: walking with confidence. Indeed, this point might be the most important on the list. Only celebrities can stand out in a crowd when they’re low in confidence. If you’re going to do this, then you need to stand and walk tall. That means shoulders back, head straight, and generally acting self-assured and confident. If you’ve taken the other tips in this blog, then you’ll probably naturally feel confident anyway, but there are also plenty of things you can do to give your confidence a nudge in the right direction too.

So there we have it. While everyone wants to stand out from the crowd, if you’ve taken our advice, then you’ll find that, more often than not, you’re getting attention from friends and strangers alike, for all the right reasons.

Essentials Every Woman Needs In Her Handbag This Summer

by

Like your choice of partner, bags are very definitely a matter of personal taste but are one of the essentials every woman needs .  Maybe you go for some petite crossbody number, which fits a phone, lippy and not much besides. Sure it’s super light and you can strut your stuff feeling completely unencumbered, but don’t you crave a little more, don’t you want to dive in and delve a bit more?  At the opposite end of the spectrum is Ms tote, with her handbag bulging as if she’s going on a weekend away. Rest assured, somewhere between them both lies sanity, so here are my suggestions for things that every woman needs in her handbag to ensure that summertime living really is as easy as that old song suggests.

essentials every woman needs

Hair Ties and Clips

Repeat after me, humidity plays havoc with your hair. Hair ties and clips are an instant fix for when you are all hot and bothered and you just need to get some cool air on your neck.  Ok, so you can never find them, but they’re in there somewhere.

Compact hairbrush

essentials every woman needs

ArtsyBee / Pixabay

A hair brush is one of the essentials every woman needs.  In fact, it is of psychological importance, as much as anything.  Brushing your hair is cooling, calming and tones down that bride of Frankenstein look. A small, foldable hairbrush will do fine for your bag. If you’re off to somewhere more fancy though, you better pop your most trusted hairbrush in.

Makeup

In warm weather you definitely don’t want to bring the whole arsenal along, expensive products and heat is not a good combo.  Lippy is an essential though, and you might want to add mascara and eye liner.  Some women I know believe that fragrance is a key feminine virtue. Perfume and/or deodorant make sense when the temperature rises.

Sunglasses

Pexels / Pixabay

Sunnies are one of the essentials every woman needs hands down.  No matter the time of year, you should always have a pair of sunnies in your bag.  You know all about harmful UV rays, right?  You know how sand, water and concrete reflect up to 80% of them? You know that sunnies are just the coolest accessory in the world, bar none.  Be sure to choose a pair you really like, in fact be sure to choose several pairs you really like because nothing creates an instant shift of style like a pair of sunnies.  Go all cutesy with a pair of bright acetate, micro cat eyes or go all mysterious with an oversize pair of wrap arounds.  Just be sure to take them off when you’re inside, that’s why you need a bag.

Jewellery

No, not that big diamond broach or that fabulous string of pearls, just some big jolly summer stuff so that you can shift it up a gear if you need to. Leave the expensive bling you may have at home for the special occasions.

Sun cream

Boring and sensible I know but an essential if you don’t want a Rudolph nose. Apply it before going out in the sun, and remember to make sure it is all rubbed in. If you’re going into water, remember too that sun cream needs to be reapplied, as it isn’t usually waterproof.

Other Essentials

Other essentials every woman needs would definitely be your cell phone and your cards of course.  The two things that enable you to socialise and shop. Your phone is your communication with the world, whilst your cards make the world, slightly more, your oyster. What would we do without them now, eh?

Bretman Rock’s Collaboration with Colourpop

by

Bretman Rock released his first makeup collection with Colourpop on November 9th. The red and blue makeup palettes are inspired by the Filipino flag’s color. He wanted to share where he was from and represent his culture. The “Lit” palettes are all about warm toned and red colors, while the “Wet” palettes consist of blue shades, neutrals, and browns.

Both of these collections share a deep side of Bretman’s personal life, including his feminine and masculine side. In his Lit collection photo, he wears a tiara, a long wig, and a sparkling outfit. In his Wet collection photo, he is shirtless with a silver chain around his neck. In these photos, he wants to prove that anyone can rock a beautiful makeup look, no matter who they are.

Rock uses his favorite words to name the colors in his palettes, such as “Or Whatevah” “Like” and “Periodt” and it really shows off his personality.

The Lit makeup palette is a matte and metallic finish that is very pigmented. It blends smoothly onto your eyes and gives a soft effect.

The Wet makeup palette is the perfect palette to create smokey eye looks with a pop of lip color.

This limited collection includes eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, blush, and body glitters.
