Mani Love and Freakabritt embody “Crazy Love” in Future Animals music video

If you don’t know Danish production duo Future Animals yet, it’s only a matter of time. The 3X Grammy nominated pair, made up of Don Stefano and Rissi, have amassed a long list of credits including the 5X platinum, Grammy nominated song “”7 Years”” by Lukas Graham and “”Heaven”” by Julia Michaels  (from the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack). Their resume as also stacked with the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Aloe Blacc, DJ Mustard, Leona Lewis, and David Guetta just to name a few.
Aside from their impressive writing and production work, Future Animals have found success as artists themselves. Their debut single “Ask For It” was an absolute smash, reaching over 6 million plays on Spotify.
The pair have followed that success with their undeniable, soulful second single “”Crazy Love””. The track was co-written alongside their friends and frequent collaborators, JLM and Lukas Graham. And the music video is an emotional, endearing and comedic masterpiece. The visual draws the viewer into a story of romance and heartbreak between Mani Love of the Harlem Globetrotters, and Freakabritt, a dancer known for performing with Miley Cyrus and going viral with her take on the ““In My Feelings”” dance challenge.

The Most Influential Album Releases of 2017

No matter how much hype an album gets in the moment, it’s easy to forget about it once the next one comes out. But here at Cliché, we are firm believers in giving credit where it is due. As 2017 comes to an end, it’s important to remember that in the midst of all the madness, we were truly blessed with some amazing releases in every genre from hip-hop to rock to pop. To make choosing your favorite album of 2017 just a bit easier, we rounded up a list of all the most influential album releases of 2017.

I See You by the xx
Genre: Indie Rock/Dream Pop

The third studio album from the dream-pop power-duo, I See You marked the return of the band after a four-year hiatus. After years of uncertainty, I See You ushered in an era of creative stability for the xx, exploring countless new sounds to much critical acclaim.

Short Hair Inspiration

Making the decision to cut your hair is never an easy one. Most of us go through the 5 stages of grief at the thought of losing our crown and glory. Your identity can be so wrapped up in your fabulous tresses, but it’s important to keep in mind: It’s. Just. Hair. Now that we’ve got that established, it’s time to narrow down exactly how you’re going to style your new ‘do with some much needed short hair inspiration. We did all the work for you and have some lovely ladies who show how sexy short can be.

The Chic Cut
Worn beautifully by Miley Cyrus in 2013, this style screams bold and confident. With darkened roots and a shape that won’t go unnoticed, this style is sure to turn heads.
The Classic Bob

Model Jourdan Dunn knows what works for her look and this bob is no exception. Further accentuating her sleek features, her bob is just the right length to make her look even fiercer (if that was even possible).
Long Bob and Bangs

Still think bangs are only for people in high school? Think again. Here, Rihanna looks sexy confident, and her bangs are as sleek as the rest of her persona. Why not go the extra mile and get some bangs with your next cut?

Anne Hathaway’s classic cut was one of the best style decisions she ever made. Always the effortless beauty, Anne pairs her simple cut with simple makeup and still manages to look flawless.
The Baldie

This isn’t for the faint of heart. Only the boldest and the bravest can take the plunge and pull of a nearly bald buzz cut. Amber Rose does it with class and confidence and has even turned it into her signature look. It’s hard to even imagine what she would look like with long hair at this point

Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz: Album Review

It’s often said that you cannot be surprised with what Miley Cyrus does next. However, I fail to coincide with that argument. I think that there is nothing she can do that wouldn’t leave us all in outright shock. Though this has left many to leave her fanbase, it has also resulted in even more to join it. With the release of her surprise album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 30, you can say that Cyrus pulled a Beyoncé. However, she also added her own little twist, making the music free for the public to hear.
At 23 tracks and 92 minutes of music, this album is unlike any other, and longer than any other! However, I think that the one aspect of Cyrus that many fear from is her ability to take great risks with such ease. Beginning the album with “Dooo It!,” Cyrus elicits lyrical rawness that further exhibits the amount of creative independence she has embraced throughout the rest of the album.
The second track, “Karen Don’t Be Sad,” takes a completely different turn, being it more of a reflective ballad. “Gotta hold on to your soul / Cause they’ll crush it if they can,” and “…you can make them powerless / Don’t let them make the rules,” are a few lyrics that lay out the song as more of a guiding piece. Although the words can easily relate to a multitude of situations, Cyrus uses it to exemplify the societal damage celebrities are forced to withstand by being placed in the spotlight. The third track on the album carries a similar melodic vibe to the previous. Touching on a soft spot for Cyrus, “The Floyd Song (Sunrise)” is known to be a tribute to her dog, Floyd, whose death left her in great distress mid-2014.
The album continues with songs such as “BB Talk” which is charged with vulnerable voiceovers, tracks that don’t even meet the minute mark including, “I’m so Drunk,” and tracks that are nearing the six-minute mark, such as “Tiger Dreams,” featuring Ariel Pink. Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz is an album that is all over the place, but that is what differentiates it from anything Cyrus or any other artist has ever done. By releasing this album outside of her label, Miley was able to create something that not many, if any, women in the music industry have gotten a chance to do – whatever they want without any boundaries. The result? A raw, open, honest, vulnerable, and unedited version of Miley – a side of her, as well as a version of music that the public eye doesn’t get much of a chance to see or hear.
With that, Cyrus has taken over as she not only bends, but lives to break the unwritten rules of pop music. Perhaps a bit provocative and not exactly ‘parent-friendly,’ but she is a woman that celebrates herself for who she is, declining to change at the will of others. Cyrus has created a new version of freedom, refusing to confine herself to live by social norms. Carrying herself with confidence and pride, living sans-judgment while using her power to give to others – all of which is best displayed through her new album – Cyrus has become an iconic figure. Being the risk-taker that she is, only the future will tell what her next move will be, and knowing Miley, it’ll definitely be big.

Miley Cyrus Celebrates 22nd Birthday

Bangerz artist Miley Cyrus celebrated her 22nd birthday this past Sunday. And in true Miley fashion, it was elaborate and crazy.
According to E! Online, the party took place at a new Beacher’s Madhouse secret location by the Santa Monica Pier. Cyrus arrived wearing a neon pink top and fluorescent green mini skirt with cutouts, a bright furry coat, and blue and pink butterfly clips. With blue eyeshadow, face paint, and a pacifier necklace, Cyrus appeared ready for a rave.
Party attendees were treated to a large pizza cake and a mechanical ride…in the form of a penis, which you can view here (NSFW).
According to E! Online, a source stated, “Everyone had a great time.” He/She revealed, “It was fun and relaxed and it was quite a spectacle. Nothing less than what you would expect from a party with Miley.”
Guests of the Hannah Montana star’s 22nd birthday party included her new boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger, her younger brother Braison Cyrus, and actress and singer Sky Ferreria.
From all of us here at Cliché Magazine, happy birthday, Miley!

Miley Cyrus Shocks at the AmfAr Gala

Miley Cyrus shocks at the AmfAr Gala!

Wednesday night at the American Foundation for AIDS Research LA Inspiration Gala, the “Wrecking Ball” singer turned heads as she posed for paparazzi. According to Huffington Post, Cyrus wore a black Tom Ford dress with criss-crossing sequined straps and a sheer top. The designer, Ford, was honored for his work with AmfAR last night.

Though this look would have been scandalous years ago and maybe still today if worn by a different celebrity–Taylor Swift maybe–this look seems right on Cyrus: fits her personality and style. Plus, the former Hannah Montana star looks good. She’s in great shape; good for her if she wants to be proud of her body and wear a daring dress.

According to E! Online, Cyrus also donated money to the organization; after getting into a bidding war with Ford and fellow attendee and fearless risqué dresser Rihanna, Cyrus paid an incredible $300,000 on a print of a naked woman, shot by photographer Ryan McGinley.

Her reason for spending such a great amount of money: “I’m a little drunk. That’s why I’m a half a million deep.”

On a more serious note, Cyrus stated, “If I’m going to have a voice I would like to start an open dialogue about prevention and awareness and how people in the world have been effected by HIV and AIDS.”

Cyrus also said, “Hopefully, I could break down people’s walls that have been built up around sexuality. I’m obviously not too embarrassed to talk about these things, especially with young people.”

With summer finally here, you’d think I’d be out enjoying the gorgeous weather and the break from being indoors. However, being a true entertainment junkie, I find myself still glued to my electronics. Also, it doesn’t help that I can watch TV, listen to music, and read a book from my phone; let’s just say that my face has yet to bask in the light of day. Who needs healthy social interaction anyway? Especially when you can stay glued to a screen all day (totally joking—go make friends). Here’s what I currently have on rotation.

Listening To: Bangerz by Miley Cyrus

So we all know Hannah Montana-no-more has gone clinically insane circa Britney Spears 2007. Still, despite how repulsed I am by her new persona, I’m completely obsessed with her Bangerz album—though if you tell anyone, I’ll deny it. It’s very rare that I find an album where I like almost every single song, but believe it or not, this is one of them. However, this shouldn’t come as a surprise when she’s been collaborating with artists such as Will.i.Am and Pharrell. Album highlights include fan-favorites like “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball,” pretty vocals like “Adore You” and “Drive,” and of course finger-snapping beats like “Hands in the Air” and “Someone Else”; and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The ill-fitting hairstyles, crazy antics, and unbearable new personality might turn you away from Miley, but there’s no denying that this album rocks!

Reading: Brunbrunetteambitionette Ambition by Lea Michele

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to our readers. I love all things Lea Michele. In her debut novel—which is both memoir as well as a how-to for the young and ambitious—we get to hear revealing untold stories and never-before-seen images of the multi-tasking starlet. From beauty tips to fitness advice, Michele describes this as “the book [she] wishes she’d had in her teens and early twenties.” I may have been newly inducted into my late twenties, but that didn’t stop me from pre-ordering my copy.

yoshiPlaying: Yoshi’s New Island for Nintendo 3DS

If I told you that I prepaid for this game before its release date just so I could play it right away, would you judge me? Call me a #nerd if you will, but I have no regrets. This is basically a “midquel” between the original Super Mario 2: Yoshi’s Island (SNES) and Yoshi’s Island (DS). It plays much like its predecessor, with the Yoshis helping to reunite Baby Mario and his kidnapped brother. What could be more adorable than diapers and dinosaurs? I’ll admit I still favor the original, but I’m happy to get my fix of flutter jumps, egg-tosses, and ground pounds.

gameofthronesWatching: Game of Thrones (Seasons 1-4)

Despite all of my self-proclaimed entertainment savviness, I will admit that I am usually the last person to know about a hit show (thank goodness for Netflix and on-demand).  So although HBO’s Game of Thrones just wrapped up its fourth season—and I’m sure it was phenomenal—this late bloomer is still waiting on Khaleesi’s dragon eggs to hatch. Though I’m far behind and social media has long-ago informed me of some of the show’s major events, there’s something fulfilling in watching the storyline from the beginning and at my own pace. Sure, I don’t have the excruciating, albeit exciting experience of waiting for the next episode week after week, but I have literally hundreds of hours of viewing pleasure at my disposal! And so far, I’ve been as enthralled as King Joffrey in a room full of dead puppies.

Be sure to check out our June/July issue for #NowPlaying and other articles.
