Viral TikTok Trend Helps Dirty Heads’ Single “Vacation” Make A Global Impact

Los Angeles, CA, Wednesday, February 17, 2021— Southern California’s alt-rock band Dirty Heads are making a splash with their 2017 track “Vacation,” which earned great charting and streaming success and garnered a TikTok trend in summer 2019 that was catapulted in early January 2021. TikTok is driving discovery, converting fans and skyrocketing streams for the Dirty Heads across all digital streaming platforms.
The #vacationtransition trend started in summer 2019 and had amassed thousands of videos, but was revived on TikTok when influencer Bryn Sato (@bryniebooo) posted a video of herself sneezing into her elbow, right as the screen transitions to another screen of her frolicking at the beach on vacation, on 12/30/20, to her 1.2M followers. It then took off on 1/8/21 when influencer Glenca Chysara (@glencachysaraofficial)posted it to her 2.6M followers, both with the chorus of “Vacation” playing in the background. The #vacationtransition hashtag now has over 45.5M views and counting, over 548.5M views across over 493K user generated videos and enters onto the TikTok Viral Charts at #52 (Daily) and #90 (Weekly).

In response to the trend, frontman Jared Watson did his own version of it on the band’s TikTok account, @dirty_heads. On 2/6/21, he sneezed into his arm, which phased into him performing the track onstage in front of thousands of fans at a concert in Florida.
The band originally wrote the song about paying tribute to those who love their jobs. For those that don’t, there’s still time to try something else. Life’s too short not to do something we’re passionate about. Released in 2017 as part of their sixth studio album, SWIM TEAM, the song was #1 on Billboard Hot Rock& was a top 10 hit on the Mediabase Alternative Airplay Chart. In 2018, they performed the track on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and released their own beer, Vacation Session Ale + Pineapple, partnering with Huntington Beach’s Four Sons Brewery. Now, with its resurgence, the song has skyrocketed to this organic viral moment, giving them new fans on different mediums, and increased streams across all platforms by 40 percent. This has significantly increased the band’s profile in International markets, earning the song introductions on over 25 viral international playlists, viral and pop playlists with massive global reach, 500 percent increase of Shazams, entry on the Shazam Global Top 200 Chart and TikTok daily, weekly, trending videos and all-time top track charts.
Watson commented on the trend, “We’re stoked people are drawing inspiration from the song and the message behind the lyrics. It was cool to see the trend grow organically and watch people enjoying life, whether it’s at work or on vacation. That’s what the track’s all about.” You can watch a newly released vertical video starting today of the band doing what they love, performing to thousands of fans, while integrating some of the above mentioned clips. Watch / Share HERE.
The original video, posted by Nagma Mirajkar (@nagmaa, 14.6M followers) has since been followed by 420K similar videos of TikTokers, including Mumbai-based dancer, choreographer, and influencer Awez Darbar (@awezdarar, 26M followers) making the same “sneeze” into their vacation, wherever that may be — shooting shots on a ski slope in Vail, CO, snow tubing down a hill, relaxing by the pool, or paddleboarding on a lake, as they dance along to the lyrics of “Vacation”: “Aye aye aye, I’m on vacation every single day cuz I love my occupation.” It has also taken on a life of its own with food meme influencers @Foodies (18M followers) and @SpiceKingCan (9.3M followers) putting their own unique spin on the trend, opening it up to interpretation across the app.
The band released the current single, “Bum Bum” (featuring Villain Park), in July, while in quarantine, to tide fans over until they finish their eighth studio album, scheduled to be released later this year through Better Noise Music.
In the meantime, fans can find the band on a string of festival dates, starting on April 18 at Reggae Rise Up Las Vegas, April 25 at High Tide Festival in Tempe, AZ, and a couple headlining dates including the infamous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, with G. Country newcomer Brady Lee releases his highly anticipated sophomore single “Liquorish.” You can listen to the single on all digital platforms.

You can watch the official visualizer video by clicking here.

“Liquorish was a lightbulb moment for me. When I first moved to town, this girl named Allie was a part of the crew that I rolled with. She was into me, I was into her, but it wasn’t until I was a junior in high school that I had the courage to ask her out. We got married when I was 21. I wanted to write a song that perfectly captured the moment when I realized that I wanted more than a friendship. Liquorish is my love story,” Brady explains.

In September of 2020, Brady Lee debuted into the country scene with his single I Can Do This All Day which debuted on Apple Country Hot Tracks and New In Country Editorial. In late 2020, singer-songwriter signed an artist development deal with Perkins Publicity which was announced by All Access and Music Row.

The country newcomer made a statement in 2020, which led him to be included in Everything NashPopWrappedCountry Sway, and countless other Artist To Watch in 2021 features.

Taking inspiration from the likes of Kane Brown, Thomas Rhett, and Russel Dickerson, Brady’s sonic style is very much radio driven pop-infused anthems that showcase his outstanding vocal and songwriting skills.

Lee also has a strong worship music background, which means he has a strong faith-based connection running throughout his lyrical output. He has an impressive back catalog that also includes a writing credit on Christian Nuckels’ album. Brady Lee also has notable credits on projects from Six Hours Prior, Native Tongues, Trevor Gonzalez, and Connor Cook, and while music is his main career focus, the father of two also leads the main stage worship for Districts 2019, a 6,000 student conference in Green Bay, WI.

How to Select the Right Online Singing Classes

Today we want to share with you some great tips on how to select the right singing classes. Singing is a therapeutic activity – whether you can carry a tune or not. It is a popular stress buster capable of putting a positive spin on your mood and lifting your spirits. Singing can also boost your immune system, improve lung function, relieves pain, and enhances memory. Yes, that is what research says.

With the world being cooped up inside their homes, online singing lessons are a great tool to start a new hobby or keep honing your singing talent.

There are several online singing classes over the internet today. Selecting the right singing course can be a daunting experience.

Here are 9 points to consider while searching for the right online singing classes.

From whom will you be taking singing lessons? What is their educational background, their experience with music, their experience with teaching music? How well can they communicate in an online environment?

When you visit an online singing website, do look for teacher portfolios to understand who you will be learning music from.

select the right singing classes

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels

What are the different singing modules offered? Are they beginner friendly? Or if you are an experienced singer, do they offer intermediate to advanced level classes? Find a class that best suits your requirement and not the other way round.

Look for the duration, number of classes, videos available in each module. Also, clarify if there are any time constraints in which you need to complete the module.

Live Sessions

Does the class offer one on one online singing lessons or a live group session? You should have an opportunity to interact with teachers, ask questions, get your doubts clarified, or receive feedback on your progress.

Such an open environment is essential, especially when you are learning a new skill. You are investing time, effort, and money into the course, ensuring you make the most out of it.

The luxury of enrolling in an online course is the flexibility of attending lessons from anywhere, anytime. Working from home becomes the norm. You might find time only during the weekends or in the late evenings after you are done with work.

Does the online singing class provide you with on-demand videos? What are the topics covered in such on-demand videos? These are some questions that might help you learn lessons at your own pace.

Free Trial

Attending a free trial offers you a glimpse into the inner workings of the online singing course. You can attend a free session and judge for yourself if you are comfortable with the mode of teaching, teachers, and their manner of conducting a class.

Most online courses offer anywhere from 3 to 14 days of a free trial. Leverage this trial period to understand if you are comfortable with the online medium, your tutors, and your interaction with them.

Supporting Material

Does the online class provide any reading or video material to enhance your singing skills and accelerate your progress? Do you have access to materials you can utilize on your own and in your own time?

This is surely an add-on service to look for. But with the number of online classes out there, it is a feature that can tip the scales in favor of the online class provider.

Once you have chosen to enroll in online singing lessons, how long do you have access to the course material? Singing as a hobby needs time and practice; you cannot become a maestro overnight.

There are courses out there that offer unlimited access once you have enrolled or have specific time constraints, like 6 to 12 months. If you are serious about pursuing singing as a hobby, then look for courses that offer a longer access period to their resource materials.

This is a subjective factor, but it still needs consideration. You need to take a look at all the features offered by different courses when comparing costs. Prioritize your requirement when looking at the costs. Do you want a class with interactive sessions and unlimited access, or want to explore singing as a hobby and want to begin with an affordable monthly course?

Turn to the internet when in doubt. A simple Google search can provide you with access to student reviews. You can check for the different courses offered, their structure, costs, teaching mode, and student testimonials on a vendor’s website.

You could also turn to third-party review websites to understand student experiences and the type, of course, they would recommend.

There you have the 9 different features you can look out for before enrolling in an online singing class. Singing can be a joyful experience and a great stress reliever, much needed in today’s environment. Take no pressure, hop onto a free trial class, test the waters and then make your decision.

(Los Angeles, CA)  Lyra Star really wowed everyone last year with her music video for “Under the Water,” and she is continuing on the path of using her skills as a movement artist to create gorgeous visual art to accompany her haunting, ethereal music.  This time, she transports the viewer into nature, drawing them into a beautiful fairy tale forest world that is reminiscent of A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Filmed in Franklin Canyon Regional Park and directed by videographer/photographer Jayden H. Becker (known for the lyric video “The End” by artist Kyns), the shots weave seamlessly back and forth between Lyra’s graceful dance and exploration of the natural world with her more intense contortion movements in deep backbends and handstands.  The song itself, “Fade,” was actually part of Lyra’s full length album, A Thousand Dreams, released in 2018, and it was the very first song that she ever wrote on the ukulele.  What a mesmerizing way to bring attention to this gorgeous track that is full of her signature lush vocal harmonies, flowing violin parts played by Julie Mellon (of the SF Bay area), and hypnotic production/instrumental arrangements by Christopher Krotky (Soundwire Studio in Oakland, CA).

Buzz Music LA writes: “As one to engage us with her captivating vocals and themes that weigh heavy on the emotions she exudes, Lyra Star manages to illustrate a picture wherever she goes with her in-depth storytelling talents.”

Lyra StarBorn and raised in the music city of Nashville, TN, Lyra Star left after high school to eventually fall in love with the west coast. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2018 to focus more on her artistic career and teaching yoga and pilates.  A self-trained contortionist, Star began to break into the performing world onstage with her incredible skills as a movement artist.  Her music has been compared in sound to Tori Amos, Lana Del Ray, and Fiona Apple. “Fade” in particular is a song that she wrote about feeling physically broken after pushing her body to its limits training for a yoga competition.  This beautiful video does not disappoint, as it is mesmerizing throughout, allowing the viewer to become a part of the artist’s inner world and dreamlike journey, showcasing once again Star’s unique duality as a multi-talented artist through her music and movement.

R3HAB Smokepurpp and Russian TikTok star Rakhim Release New Single “Fendi”

R3HAB once again crosses genres and cultures by joining forces with Miami rapper Smokepurpp and Russian TikTok star Rakhim for a multi-lingual single “Fendi,” originally a viral on TikTok, which positions itself as one of R3HAB’s most daring productions yet. Opening with a hard-hitting and rhythmic tempo, the track first ventures into the realm of hip-hop influences with rap lyrics and the title’s catchy vocal hook. Fans will recognize the subtle but confident shift to R3HAB‘s signature electronic bass style in the second verse as a slapping bassline takes over. Smokepurpp and Rakhim trade off vocal duties in both English and Rakhim‘s native Russian language, making “Fendi” full of surprises to keep listeners on their toes. The story behind the song started with a post on R3HAB’s Instagram account calling on Smokepurpp to team up for a rework. The response came quickly from the American rapper, who was more than happy to jump on board. If this new release is any indication of what 2021 has in store for R3HAB, we can’t wait to hear more!

I’m always keen on working with artists from different music cultures and learning from them. It was a real blast working with Rakhim and Smokepurpp, who are really talented and both pioneers in their fields. What we came up with feels modern and breaks down so many genre barriers.” – R3HAB

When I created the track ‘Fendi,’ my goal was to make it a worldwide hit. And when R3HAB and Smokepurpp offered me a feat, I realized that this was another step towards my goal. I’m sure that collaboration with such cool artists will give “Fendi” its second life and take it to the next level. You’re gonna love it.” – Rakhim

I’ve been planning a lot of EDM/house type music for 2021, and I’m excited that one of the first drops was with R3HAB & that we were able to collab with Rakhim. I have a ton of Russian & Eastern European fans, and it’s dope to get to do so many collabs with artists over there. Hopefully, we’ll all be back on the road to perform this one soon.” – Smokepurpp

Dutch/Moroccan DJ and producer Fadil El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB, has been trailblazing his way through dance music for the better part of the last decade. From his breakthrough hit remix of Afrojack, Pitbull and Ne-Yo‘s “Give Me Everything” to his dance anthems, such as “All Around The World (La La La)” and “Lullaby,” which have collectively amassed over 600M streams, to his collaborations with the likes of ZAYN, Andy Grammer, Sofia Carson, Timmy Trumpet and more, R3HAB has proven to be one of the most talented and forward-thinking artists in the game. He partnered with Spotify and GATTÜSO to create the first-ever official “mint” single release. In 2016 he founded his label CYB3RPVNK, which passed one billion streams on its catalog within the first two years since its inception. R3HAB himself continues to evolve and diversify his sound by working with a variety of artists around the globe, experimenting with everything from hip-hop to pop through his collaborations. With his combination of innate artistry and innovative attitude, in 2021 R3HAB is continuing his journey among electronic music’s elite.

Rakhim Abramov is a young hip-hop performer who, in half a year of his musical career, has released seven tracks under the name Rakhim, two of which have become hits throughout Russia and the CIS. Also, success came from America and Europe through TikTok and the top charts on Spotify and Apple Music. Rakhim‘s work is different from all other artists, and this allows him to rapidly increase a new audience and win the hearts of listeners.

Omar Jeffery Pineiro, known professionally as Smokepurpp, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Originally a record producer, Pineiro later found success on the audio distribution platform Soundcloud, which resulted in a joint venture record deal with Alamo Records and Interscope Records. Next, Pineiro released his commercial debut single, “Audi.” The single soon became his biggest song with over 78 million plays on SoundCloud and 173 million streams on Spotify. It was followed by a release of his debut commercial mixtape Deadstar, including features from artists such as Chief Keef, Juicy J, and Travis Scott. The mixtape peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. In 2018 Smokepurpp released two singles from the then-forthcoming “Bless Yo Trap” mixtape called “123” and “Do Not Disturb“, the latter of which features Lil Yachty and Offset from Migos.

Kid Hastings Returns With Dreamy New Single “Call Me Up”

Indie pop artist Kid Hastings returns from a year-long hiatus to release a new single + music video for “Call Me Up” from his forthcoming EP, releasing via Ourros.  Previously, “with his debut EP, Golden, Kid Hastings made an incredibly impressive statement as a writer and producer, capturing his subject candidly and with an articulation that seems beyond his years” – Ones To Watch
Kid Hastings, AKA Jake McEvoy of Hastings, England (though raised in New Jersey) is a jazz and choir kid turned bleached-hair indie rock/pop guitarist and songwriter. Drawing heavy influence from the jazz greats such as Thelonius Monk and Wes Montgomery, he approaches dreamy, sunny bedroom pop sounds with a sophisticated flair. His complex melodies, layered vocals and unique self-produced soundscape span a diverse catalogue of songs broaching solipsism, unrequited love and taking yourself less seriously. Check him out on Instagram and Tik Tok.
With the help of friend and fellow creative, Ava Doorey, the two devised a video for “Call Me Up” that embodies the complexity of Kid Hasting’s persona. These self-proclaimed “reformed theater kids” cooked up a concept that not only allows for Kid Hastings to present his unparalleled physical performance prowess, but also creates freedom through freedom. As the world kept turning, the pandemic made us all stay still. That said, McEvoy stepped into the zone of self-expression through artistic movement, and the freedom of identity that is the basis of the video allowed McEvoy to feel blissfully free himself.

Sleepwoka’s “Together We Are” Reflects On Resilience Of True Friendship

In a time when many of us are feeling disconnected physically from our friends, family and loved ones, Sleepwoka’s “Together We Are” reflects on the resilience of true friendship, even if we are spread far and wide.

Sleepwoka’s strong use of analog synthesizers brings a nostalgic 80s vibe and a captivating and surreal tone to his projects.

London based Ukrainian producer and songwriter, Sleepwoka, returns with another poignant single enthused with uplifting electro-pop soundscapes. Since he burst on the scene just last year, Sleepwoka, has released a string of successful singles gaining the attention of BBC Music Introducing London, Earmilk, Variance and Atwood Magazine.

As Earmilk concluded after his last single, “How I Was wrong”; “Sleepwoka’s music succeeds in pursuing relatable and thought-provoking narratives, with the hopes to make listeners evaluate their everyday lives through intricately crafted electronic music.” The new single, “Together We Are”, perfectly follows suit.

The message that “Together We Are” conveys-

In a time when many of us are feeling disconnected physically from our friends, family and loved ones, Sleepwoka’s “Together We Are” reflects on resilience of true friendship even if we are spread far and wide. He explains: this single is a tribute to all my friends that are scattered around the world. Although we live different lives and rarely see each other, it feels like the invisible connection only grows stronger. It’s a connection that reaches beyond messages on your phone. It’s the feeling that you get when warm memories from the past remind you of the strength of the friendship – which is especially important right now. Whatever this crazy world brings to us, it still feels like we’re in this together and no distance or time can change that.”

It’s a powerful and much needed reminder during the ongoing pandemic that we are not alone even if it has felt like that at times.

Sleepwoka’s music is produced in his bedroom in North London. The strong use of analog synthesizers brings a nostalgic 80s vibe and the dream-like atmospheric visuals add a captivating and surreal tone to his projects.
