Messenger Bag, the Unisex Fashion Accessory

The messenger bag has developed over time from only being a working man’s necessity. To now being, the accessory for men. Mailmen used this style bag in order to carry loads of assorted mail door to door. Businessmen used this bag to carry all their papers and pens. Young men in a University studying to become a working man used this style bag to carry their school books. Now, the messenger bag is more than just a life necessity for men. It has evolved into a lifetime desire for both men and women.

Why has the purpose of a messenger bag changed?

Although the messenger bag is still dominant in the workplace for its work use. It has migrated into street style fashion and has become the main accessory piece for the fashion-forward. Since the bag has become so popular in street style, the original smooth leather bags are not the only styles out there anymore. They now come in multiple fabrics, colors, and sizes. Men want to be fashion-forward too, men want options for their accessories, men want to be fashionable. Men found a new way to style the messenger bag and because of the popularity the look created, this bag became more than just a work bag. It is now a fashion statement.

How should you style the messenger bag?

Styling the messenger bag is all up to the individual wearing the accessory. For a white-collar business style, the bag in dark brown with a tailored navy colored suit can easily create that work-ready outfit. If you want a relaxed business style, a white button-up with grey slacks and a black bag will give you a casual workday outfit. For street style, you could be mono-toned. A black T-shirt with ripped black jeans and a black bag. Or you could use the bag as your accent color, like pairing a red bag with red sneakers. You could even pair a small bag with a big over-sized sweater, a pair of skinny jeans, and skater shoes.

Weixier messenger bag

The future of the messenger bag.

This accessory is not going anywhere anytime soon. The overall function of the bag is what makes it essential in life. The size and how it sits on the body makes it comfortable for the customer to use. The never-ending style choices are what makes this bag universal to all genders and styles. This bag has grown into more than another work bag, it has become a fashion trend and will continue to grow and evolve accordingly.

Calling all cow Girls: Western or English Horse Riding Boots?

Let’s ask a quick question.  As a horse rider do you prefer Western or English horse riding boots?  Horse riding boots are the most important part of the riding kit. Experienced riders spend a good amount of time choosing a sturdy pair of riding boots. There is nothing worse than choosing a tight and uncomfortable pair of boots.  Unfortunately many  first-time buyers make the mistake of buying the wrong pair of boots. There are those who buy sub-standard quality boots just for the sake of saving money. Buying a poor-quality pair of horse riding boots can turn out to be quite an expensive affair in the long run. A pair of bad-quality boots are most likely to undergo wear and tear. Under such circumstances, you’ll have to buy a new pair after a few months.

What not to wear while riding

There are different types of riding boots that you can choose from. These boots come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. Choosing a riding boot happens to be a matter of personal choice, but there are a few things that need to be kept in mind.  First, keep in mind that the boot you choose needs to have small tread along with a heel of 1 inch to 1 and a half. This will prevent the boot from slipping through the stirrup. However, such boots can come in handy while working in the stable.

Western Boot Styles

Usually Western boots come with heels that are slightly higher than English boots. Many of the Western-style boots come with crepe soles. These will not slide out of the stirrup easily.  Some riders prefer ankle-height boots as these tend to be far more comfortable than conventional boots. Western boots are preferred as these provide the rider with good amount of protection and stability.

As stated earlier, going for a cheap pair of riding boots isn’t a good idea but if you happen to be looking for an additional pair of riding boots, then get in touch with a reliable equestrian clearance warehouse.  Here, you will find riding boots at discounted prices. The motive is to buy riding boots that last.

A handy tip: The moment you hit the market, you will come across countless pairs of inexpensive riding boots made using vinyl. These boots are less comfortable and likely to wear out faster than a sturdy pair of conventional leather boots. If you happen to be searching for a pair of riding boots, then equestrian clearance sales in the UK offer you ample opportunities to find a pair or two of sturdy riding boots.

English Boot Styles

English-style boots, much like their Western counterparts,  come in a wide variety of styles and designs, and sizes. You can choose a pair of classic dress boots. These are tall black boots that were worn by hunters in the 1950s. Even to this day, such boots form an integral part of a rider’s horse riding attire.  Many of the riders believe that these boots are extremely comfortable and heavy-duty, whereas others find them too cumbersome and hot.

Jodphur boots are English-style boots that go up to the ankle. Such boots are worn by children in show rings. These boots come with straps that go around the calf in order to prevent the boots from bunching up the legs. Many of the new-age riders opt for boots having zippered closures. Zippered closure makes it easier for the rider to take off and wear the boots.

Make it a point to buy equestrian boots from a reliable vendor. Buying poor-quality boots can backfire big time.  Don’t go for the most expensive option. Choose a pair that is tough enough to go the distance.

Claudia Anicy Manuguian & The Passion of A Fashion Designer

Claudia Anicy Manuguian is a fashion designer and CEO of her collection. Her pieces are original and hand made using natural fibers. Manuguian has a strong background in Italian design and was awarded the title of Fashion Designer, Fashion Coordinator and Product Manager during her studies. The Anicy Manuguian collection features a sophisticated design with fibers such as Alpaca, Baby Alpaca, Pima Cotton, Natural Cotton, Natural Wool, and other pure materials.

Baby Alpaca

This fiber is known as one of the superstars within the Anicy Manugian brand because it contains 100% natural luxury fiber. Baby alpaca wool is made from the shearing of the animal without causing any animal sacrifice or harm. This yarn is highly durable and long-lasting because of its elegance and luxury in the world market.

  • Baby Alpaca is hypoallergenic and lightweight.
  • It keeps your body warm while remaining dry-fit and water-repellant. It maintains the body’s natural temperature.
  • This yarn is thinner and finer than wool.
  • It does not gather dust and remains clean.
  • Perfumes and body odor do not transfer to the garment.

Pima Cotton

Pima cotton is a superior fiber within the Anicy Manuguian brand because of its length and strength. A longer fiber prevents fiber ends from being exposed on the surface. This results in a silkier, smoother material that holds its shape, resists pilling and last a long time. Pima is the strongest of all cotton and contains a rich, deep color.

What was the drive/main reason that you wanted to start your fashion line? What was your Inspiration?

The reason I started my fashion Line was because I won an International Contest for a Fashion Design called “Largo I Giovanni” during 1998. When I was living in Italy organized by Vogue Italia and Collezioni Donna Magazine where the focus was to discover New Talents around the world. At that time, I decided to participate with a hand made knitwear collection made with alpaca and natural wool completely hand dyed.

What do you see as the future of sustainable fashion?

I think sustainable fashion is the future for fashion because the world needs a chance of conscious. The climate change and global warming are appearing in the news. Natural materials are an important focus for sustainable fashion that wants to show their product as a new and modern design proposal to respect the environment.

What do you want women to know who purchase your brand?

I would like my customers to know Anicy Manuguian as a fashion proposal brand that has different values that we consider important for our philosophy. We work with certified fair trade companies for our production of the Pret a Porter line. We love to be close to the people who made our production. Every hand made dress of our Couture and Bridal line is a piece of art made with love and passion for a very expert artisan. We believe that help is also a focus and for that reason we collaborate with artisans who needs work to support their families. We teach them and we incorporate them in a group of work. This collection is a luxury gift because it is handmade. We use the best type of natural fiber like baby alpaca, Pima cotton and silk for the Couture line.

We propose our line to the customers as a sustainable luxury brand with a vision for the future.

In Full Bloom: Floral Looks For Every Aesthetic

Some things just naturally come in pairs. In Autumn, we fall head over heels for the golden leaves; in Winter, it’s snow days accompanied by tall mugs of marshmallow-laden hot cocoa. So when Spring comes to mind, you already know the other half of the combo: flowers.

While flowers may not feel especially novel for Spring/Summer fashion, we’d like to argue that it’s practically sartorial sacrilege to completely abandon them in one’s warm-weather wardrobe. This season’s designers have succeeded in reinvigorating this seemingly fatigued trend. Even if you prefer strictly all black garb (we understand the impulse), there’s a way to try out these floral looks while remaining true to your own aesthetic. Ahead, we’ve picked our five favorite garden-inspired designs from some of this season’s collections for a little inspiration. As it turns out, there’s really no wrong way to go floral.

The Look: True Romance

There’s a special sense of power that comes with slipping on a long, filmy dress — feminine power, that is. If you’re like me, trying on a romantic maxi dress transports me to a former era where elegance reigned supreme (one that I often wish I had been born into), allowing me to become an Austenian lady or Renaissance goddess for the dreamy twelve hours or so that I get to float in such a magical dress. Raquel Diniz’s designs, like the Alice dress below, are for the unabashed romantics who yearn for the dresses their lady-like dreams are made of.

The Brazilian designer turned her attention to the manufacturing aspect of fashion after traveling the world as a teenage model and browsing through textile shops in her time off-set, where she realized the design process fascinated her more than posing in front of the lens. Her line, formally launched in 2016, has a duality to its DNA, infused with the lively spirit of her homeland and crafted in the artisanal Italian tradition adopted from her training at the esteemed Istituto Marangoni. Working closely with Como-based silk virtuosos, (delicate silk chiffon is her preferred medium), Diniz creates silhouettes that elegantly drape to flatter the feminine form, accented with smocking, ruffles, and puff sleeves, and last but not least, each season’s signature floral motifs.

The Look: Gothic Romance

Loyal subjects of the McQueen empire know that the British house, named after its controversial founder Lee Alexander McQueen who passed in 2010, has always instilled in its designs an alluring hint of darkness. Blurring the lines between edgy and romantic, today, Creative Director Sarah Burton continues the label’s tradition of daring textile juxtapositions that have defined the line since its inception. This season’s collection, ushering in Spring with its various oversized floral patterns and ornate embroidery, finds its inspiration in the milestones in a woman’s life — births, christenings, weddings, and funerals, for instance — and the strength women possess in expressing emotion and embracing vulnerability during these poignant moments. Strength and softness stand side-by-side in each piece, functioning as the perfect metaphor for Burton’s vision. Ultra-feminine floral dresses — some skin-tight, others showcasing elegant long, A-line silhouettes — are toughened up with smooth leather jackets, aprons, and belts, and strands of chunky chain-and-stone jewelry that harken back to the house’s Gothic essence.

The Look: Girly Grunge

If the phrase “sexy tomboy” feels apt for you, R13’s alternative-rock-inspired looks belong in your wardrobe. Though the New York-based brand is most sought after for its denim designs — often styled with asymmetric silhouettes and uniquely-placed rips — we’re in love with one particular piece in the label’s collection this season: the label’s punky take on a traditional feminine piece: the negligee. This evening-inspired design is classic in its silhouette, with a V-neck and lace trim, and punky in its personality, featuring an orange floral motif and dramatic bleach stains that give this style its girly-grunge aesthetic. We like the laid-back look of a denim trucker jacket layered on top, but a black leather moto jacket would complete the outfit just as well.

The Look: Whimsical Menswear

Make no mistake: men should feel inspired by this season’s blooming bouquets as well. In today’s society, harsh gender lines continue to dissolve, and we’re thrilled by the boundless creative expression this permits when it comes to selecting those pieces that feel perfect for us — regardless of how we identify. Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo is one such creative who’s been celebrated for her bold, offbeat styles since the label’s establishment in 1969, like this whimsical sportcoat style from her Spring/Summer collection. A playful take on the classic menswear style, this piece is crafted of innovative PVC and styled with slashed sides, a recurring detail in her designs this season. The tropical-floral pattern of this piece renders this style a statement piece well worth the investment, one that is sure to have a place in your wardrobe for years to come.

The Look: Playful Wardrobe Staples

If you’re a lower-key shopper that prioritizes comfort and ease in your wardrobe, we don’t blame you — luxurious casualwear is an essential in everyone’s closet for those days where we just don’t feel like trying so hard. Toying with interesting prints is an easy way to elevate an otherwise basic piece, as is unique stitching, as exemplified in this playful brushed jersey V-neck top by Craig Green. The blurred-floral print is a signature motif in the British designer’s Spring/Summer collection, and is ideally paired with either all black or all white so the top can take center stage.

Suited Up: How To Buy The Best Swimsuit For Your Shape

After what was for many a long, seemingly endless winter, sunnier days are finally upon us and here to stay. With these higher temperatures also comes another occasion: swimsuit season. For some, the thought of dancing around on a beach clad in an itsy-bitsy bikini with a Mojito in hand is nothing short of heaven; and yet, there are still those of us that, even upon hearing the word “swimsuit”, experience a unique sense of panic (and perhaps a few blushes). But that needn’t be the case. Whatever your body type is — slim, curvy, busty, athletic — there’s absolutely a perfect swimsuit out there for everyone. It’s just a matter of finding the most flattering style for your shape.

Here, we’ve taken the stress out of swimsuit shopping with a simple guide to help you buy the best swimsuit for your shape this season. Though we of course believe that any woman can and should try out any look she so desires (#bcbodypositivityisimportant), the right fit is undoubtedly the one key to looking good, no matter your size and shape. Read on to select the perfect ensemble that will take you from pool parties to tropical vacays in these warm months to come.

The Hourglass

The ladies of the Hourglass are blessed with beautiful proportions that are meant to be shown off. If you’re one lucky enough to have this covetably contoured shape, your balanced figure works in your favor come swimsuit season, as there are so many different designs suitable for your body. Perhaps the best of all is the cult classic: the triangle string bikini. This barely-there style allows your curves to take center stage, and is not to mention ideal for a bronzing session while sprawled out on a towel with a good book, or an impromptu photoshoot with your friends (whichever suits your fancy). We love this glamorous metallic look by Lisa Marie Fernandez, as well as another popular style this season: crocheted swimwear, for those who adore a bohemian aesthetic. Hourglass shapes also look especially seductive in underwire styles, which also provide additional support and definition up top.

The Pear

For Pear shapes, your thighs, hips, and behind are your greatest assets (pun intended? yep.), but also the features that you’ll have to work on balancing out for a more proportionate look. The idea is to celebrate your bodacious bottom half — you put all those squats in for a reason, right? — while also finding a style that will help to elongate you since your lower body tends to dominate your physique. Boy shorts and skirt styles are no-go’s for these reasons, as these designs cut you off at the mid-thigh and will actually make you appear shorter and stockier.

For a longer and leaner silhouette, opt for tops that draw the eye — be it with bare shoulders, cutouts, twists, or ruching — and bottoms cut high on the hips for a leg-lengthening effect. Sports-bra-inspired styles present an alternative option for these ladies, as the straight-cut design assists in creating the illusion of increased width up top that will match well with your lower half. Our picks for this shape include this minimalist, lilac-hued set by LA Hearts, and this wallet-friendly ASOS find perfect for those who’ve recently put a little extra work into their abs.

The Apple

Apple girls boast a full bust, but often carry more weight in the mid-section area, which sometimes makes swimsuit shopping a bit more intimidating for these folks. But, the reality is, there’s a wide range of styles conducive for this body type. For one, plunging necklines were made for the Apple shape; not only are you able to play up your plentiful cleavage, but the vertical line created by this style draws the eye up and down, creating the illusion of more length. Surplice necklines are similarly flattering, as they serve to highlight the upper waistline and thus create a curvier silhouette.

Details are especially important to consider when shopping for the Apple shape swimsuit. Styles featuring gathering at the front or side have a slimming effect, as do suits with colorblocked side panels. Don’t be afraid to play with textures and prints, too — especially at the bodice, which helps to draw attention away from the fuller waist area. Strategically-placed ruffles conceal any lumps or bumps, and moreover add a feminine feel. High-waist bottoms are always a safe bet when you feel the need to streamline your silhouette, or if you’re going for a retro look.

The Inverted Triangle

Ladies with the killer upper body strength, we’re looking right at you. As the name of this body type suggests, Inverted Triangle gals are best known for their beautiful backs and shoulders. These features should be shown off — but the lower half of this physique can sometimes be overshadowed in result. Since a proportionate look is the end goal, swimsuits that attract the eye to the core and below are the most successful fits for this shape. Halter strap styles are especially ideal for balancing out broad shoulders, and self-ties at the hips help to add emphasis to the legs.

We love this sensual bandage bikini design by OYE Swimwear because it still bares the shoulders, but moreover wraps around the body in a fashion that accentuates the natural waist and midsection for an hourglass effect. As a basic rule: everyone should own at least one black swimsuit, the most slimming color of them all. This one-piece style by Suboo is another attractive option, with a chevron-pattern knit fabric and flirtatious side cutouts that add interest.

The Ruler

The Rulers are the naturally long, lean girls of the group, with straighter, athletic builds often equipped with a solid core and powerful legs. Given their more “rectangular” shape, these ladies will benefit from a suit that gives their sweet and subtle curves some extra love. Bikinis are perfect for showcasing your toned bellies, but avoid straight-cut styles that will only further emphasize the straightness of the body and instead search for styles with ruffles, cutouts, strappy details, and the like to add dimension. Bikini styles with high-waist bottoms are also helpful for Ruler shapes since they enhance the natural waist, like this chic one by Solid & Striped.

We also can’t forget about a basic one-piece, which was made for athletic ladies who are more likely playing volleyball on the beach than just chilling in the sun. If you’re not so into solid-colored suits, playful patterns and textured fabric elevate these simple pieces so you don’t have to sacrifice style for functionality.

Remember: these guidelines are tips — not hard and fast rules. The truth is, each and every one of us has a unique and beautiful figure that only we know best, one that’s also determined by other factors such as genetics, health conditions, and lifestyle choices. We’re the ones that have to be both happy and comfortable in the style we choose. The one real mantra to bear in mind is this: rock what you got, and play up what’s lacking. And make the shopping experience as fun and positive as possible, of course. We certainly wouldn’t frown up a dressing room fashion show should the need arise.

How Does Jeremy Scott’s Moschino Integrate Humor Into Fashion?

Moschino is a brand that instantly grabs attention, and keeps people guessing. One of the biggest reasons Moschino has become a brand that so many people are fans of at the moment has a lot to do with how Jeremy Scott takes the ideas of the founder, Franco Moschino, of poking fun at high fashion, and making it seem much less severe, to an entirely new level. Franco Moschino’s take on fashion humor was somewhat traditional, for example, printing “WAIST OF MONEY” on the waistline of a blazer, or adorning a boucle jacket with silverware. His attention to detail, and unwavering love of being unconventional lead to him creating a respected brand. With this in mind, some wonder if Jeremy Scott even stays true to the brand’s dedication to making fashion humorous at all, but we at Cliché believe that Scott isn’t disregarding the brand’s original intention, but updating it for a new generation!

Jeremy Scott took Moschino’s absurd fashion humor and updated it to the 21st century. We believe the biggest example of Scott’s innovation was during Scott’s first collection as creative director of the brand. The now iconic Ronald McDonald and Chanel inspired looks that paraded down the runway mix the silhouette of one of high fashion’s patron saints with the epitome of consumerism and pop culture, the fast-food chain McDonald’s. The collection also featured multiple Spongebob Squarepants looks, and a finale of beautifully created couture gowns printed like junk food wrappers. A collection such as this one is a rather instinctive reaction to what one would call “fashionable humor” in today’s world. It mixes high-end staples with low-brow humor to break up the seriousness that is usually linked with the fashion system.

For a generation that thrives on internet “meme” culture and nostalgia, Jeremy Scott’s version of Moschino plays directly into that fantasy. Scott can play with these things freely, as well as add in a touch of subversiveness. Scott, much like Franco Moschino, both use humor to also speak on the issues of excessive waste and consumerism within the fashion industry.  Moschino’s fall-winter 2017 collection speaks to this heavily. Comically dubbed “Mousechino”, it featured a capsule collection of shirts featuring cartoon mice donning gowns made of garbage. It also featured dresses and suits that looked as if they are made of cardboard, collaged magazine editorials, and even trash bags. This collection was not only a commentary on the fashion industry’s problem with waste but also a way of showing the fashion world that, as Scott puts it, “Couture is an attitude, it’s not a price point.”

To summarize, when looking at the direction that Jeremy Scott has taken Moschino, it is definitely within the world of fashion humor. Scott, like his predecessor, is very easily able to make familiar concepts and ideas within the realm of fashion, and play with them in a way that is unique, and almost tongue-in-cheek! Humor and subversiveness will always be a part of Moschino, and Jeremy Scott’s interpretation is one that we cannot get enough of!

Celebrity Style Files: Charli XCX

It’s Charli, baby! Charlotte Aitchison, better known as Charli XCX is known as an undisputed pop legend by her fans, always trying new styles of pop music, and adding interesting features on almost all of her tracks. While the musician is praised for constantly evolving and changing her musical style in fun and organic ways, her style has changed along with it! Originally a lover of grunge-inspired style, complete with graphic t-shirts, plaid schoolgirl skirts, and platform sneakers, the British singer now adores 1990s and early 2000s pop star inspired looks. Never one to shy away from taking a leap when it comes to style, Charli XCX has rocked chunky goth platform boots, sheer, holographic sweat suit sets, and even understated looks like silk dresses, and blazer dresses. We love the unpredictability of her style, and we get excited every time she becomes obsessed with a certain style or fashion piece because we know she’ll wear it well. Anyone who can wear scrunchies, or even cargo material bullet bras, and make them work is someone we love to admire.

Overall, we at Cliché have to agree that Charli XCX is definitely a queen of pop. We don’t only love female pop stars because of their catchy songs, but because of their individuality, and willingness to try something new, and Charli XCX embodies that tenfold! Her style is constantly changing, and always interesting, and therefore, a pop icon in her own right!
