As usual, Tina Fey has done it again! The comedian certainly hasn’t disappointed with her second sitcom. The 30 Rock writer tells the story of Kimmy, a woman who was held underground in a bunker for fifteen years. The show travels through Kimmy’s exciting and hilarious adventures as she makes a new life for herself in New York City.
Here are some of our favorite reasons you should check out this Netflix Original Show.
One of the best aspects of this show is how Kimmy constantly reminds us of the importance of staying young at heart. Because she was captured and locked in a bunker as an adolescent, she has a very child-like view of the world. She enjoys the simple things in life and always tries to keep a positive attitude. As adults, we tend to get caught up in work or school or just the hectic schedule of our lives. Yet, Kimmy reminds us to slow down and enjoy life a little bit more.
Titus is one of the most hilarious characters on television. His quick wit and abundance of sass has you laughing to the point of tears nearly every episode. As a struggling actor, he is constantly getting himself in outrageous situations, playing ridiculous characters, and stealing the spotlight from other characters. He is, in my opinion, the most entertaining character in the show.
Tina Fey’s Guest Appearances
Tina Fey makes the occasional guest appearance as different characters on the show. Every time she does, it is absolutely hilarious, of course!
The Theme Song
This theme song will stay stuck in your head for days, but you won’t be complaining. It’s one of the catchiest television theme songs that could be a hit in and of itself. I mean, who doesn’t love the line, “Females are strong as Hell?”
Constant Pop Culture References and Social Commentary
Every episode is jam-packed full of pop culture references sure to make you laugh hysterically. At the same time, the show makes puns at our current society, most specifically technology. It’s a show that can keep you laughing while also bringing important issues to light.
Be sure to watch season 1 and 2, both available on Netflix! Don’t worry, it’s okay to binge.
